MS FF stick wigs out

I never had any problems through any of the beta versions.  Now, I get random joystick inputs while flying or sitting on the runway. Gear cycling, guns firing.  I can be flying level with auto pilot on not even touching my keyboard or stick and all of a sudden my gear drop, my guns fire, and I'm in a spin.  Anyone else seen this?

Thanks,
Wulffie

You've recalibrated in Windows and AH?

Yes I have.  I've also uninstalled AH, re-downloaded and re-installed. I unload the sidewinder software before I start AH.  I haven't had any hardware changes since I uninstalled the last version of AH (final beta/first release timeframe) that I was running previous to installing 1012.  My sound, video, joystick drivers and DirectX are all the same versions I was running too.
The problem happens a lot more often if I am in auto-pilot, just flying along and next thing I know I'm in an un-recoverable spin.  I thought I had narrowed it down to just occuring during autopilot flight but I did have it happen a few times when flying without autopilot, flying straight and level and then instantly into a wild spin.  I did notice that when it happens my framerate drops from about 40fps down to around 5fps and my stick seems starts shaking as if I'm getting a lot of input to the stick.

My harddrive is not running when this happens, I've closed down everything I can before I start AH.  I don't run fastfind or any other crap like that so I don't think it's coming from another program.

It's really got me baffled, like I said in my first post, everything ran great throughout all the beta versions that I ran.

Is there a way to disable FF?  Since we don't currently support it and it seems to be acting up, I wonder if that's causing a problem?

I disabled it under game controllers in control panel and still have the same results.  I guess it's some other strange problem with my system because other people who have the same stick don't seem to be having this problem.

That's good.  I'm pretty clueless as to what could be causing it.  Anything else change on your system recently?  Do you use it in any other games?  Does it show up in the windows joystick test?

Everything shows up fine in control panel when I test it.

I haven't tried it in other games yet.

I did put my network card back in my computer. When I first started playing the beta versions of AH I had a modem and a 3com NIC.  In Dec. I got a cable modem, at first I couldn't get it and my NIC to both work.  Recently I put the NIC back in and got it working, I think I probably did that between when I last flew the first released version and the current version.  Maybe I'll rip the NIC out and see if that has any effect, it's got about as much of a shot at working as anything at this point.

Could be worth a shot, I don't know what else to suggest.
