sadly, and I am embarrassed to admit this... I keep up more on current events, and "what is going on in the world" more here than anywhere else :O

funny thing... my father is kind of a jerk about it, he watches fox news almost all day long, or espn news.

when I visit and put something else on the TV he freaks out. he says "don't you want to know what is going on, and be informed?"

I tried to tell him about here, and the radical differences of opinion, and debates... he said "who is on there? anyone I know? (meaning famous) I told him no, just people from all over the globe, though mostly from the USA. he said "who gives a **** what they think! they are not intelligent, or informed on the topics they discuss"

:rofl

just try and explain that to a stubborn person who says Brit Hume and Shepard Smith are the most educated and informed on any topic that may be on the news ever. *

* I am a republican, and do like fox news, though I can't watch because no cable, but I do trust them more than the other networks personally.

That will fit quite nicely in a lot of signature lines.  :rofl

I agree, this is the best place for news and then reaction on it.

Sounds like he would fit in here nicely somewhere between Ripsnort and Lazs.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

I admit that I get most of my news here and on NPR and a right wing talk radio show that I listen to in my work car.

I like this one here because when someone says something or reports something he has to back it up with sources...  unlike the talking heads on TV or radio who can say anything they want and never give any source that can be checked.

when lefty npr makes a claim on something I can only fume at it and mutter "bs"..  when a lefty here does it...  I can, and do check on it.  If nothing else..  I learn something.  I also think it is healthy to be able to rant back.

I don't know of any other BB quite like this one.

Gotta agree with Lazs, just about word for word.

the sources that are usually used here to back things up just lead you right back to the media scumbags lazs.

but i agree that this forum is unique and vital to discusing things with people who might actually put some thought into other posters, sometimes.

batfink.. you are correct as far as it goes but...  the sources quoted often are refuted by someone with a different opinion who states his source....

It really cuts through a lot of media hype for me.

get to see both sides of a subject while (and this is important) while it is fresh in my mind.

If I listen to two diverse (left and right) stations... switching back and forth...  they rarely talk about the same things.   They also hit and run... they say the outlandish and never come back to it..

And... no one ever gets a chance to prove em wrong while they say it.
