wow, those are some really incredible pictures. i myself am very interested in astronomy/space, and actually plan on studying astronautics at university. totally amazing that you took those from your back yard, i'm guessing a very long exposure time hehe.

some really great pics there, and welcome to AH, you're bound to enjoy it

Dang, that's some serious power.  We have an 8" Celestron and Saturn isn't much more than a small dot with a smudge of rings.

i used to regularly track Saturn/Jupiter and its moons..... however around Feb03 i got into some weird game called Aces High I, and well lost track of time....

i had a note pad of drawings.... probably 3-4 different observations a night of the moons flying around the gas giants.

only had a "standard/average" up to 650x 3 inch reflector (best at 300x ish). Observations of Venus resulted in burn marks on my eye, and mars was rather small and i could never get focus. I also used to track sunspots with the projection method on my old refractor, didnt use my reflector for that cos it got too hot.

wish i could get into it again.

i love space.... we need a space race again..... GO CHINA!!!! ;)
