GeForce2 Ultra display flashes
« on: July 02, 2001, 05:59:00 PM »
I have just upgraded my motherboard from an Asus A7V to and Asus A7M233.  I have kept everything else the same.  However I am now getting flashes randomly across the bottom of the display.  I am sure I had this problem when I first fitted the graphics card in the old motherboard.  But I seem to remember removing Z buffering cured it that time.  This setting is not there now of course.  I am getting a bit short of ideas.  Any suggestions, other than put the other motherboard back!

Zeb

Zeb, try going to the 12.41 official drivers.  Now after installing them, change what is known as the "mip mapping level" to "high quality" rather than "best image."

That should take care of it.  :)

Hiya to you, too, Drano!   :)

Zeb says thanks a lot - the new drivers and the MIP setting worked!  Flashes have gone away...  however, he has gone away grumbling in the corner because his video capture card is locking up.  At least he can play AH though!   ;)

I have a 32MB GeForce 256 video card and I am also experiencing the flashing at the bottom of the display on AH.  I changed the mip setting to high image quality and had already downloaded the 12.41 drivers but am still experiencing the problem.

Please help.

Hummer, please give us system specs?  (MB, ram, CPU, etc.)

Try enabling v-sync as well (in case it was turned off.)  You may also want to test the 7.78 drivers.

System Specs:
Dell Dimension XPS T700r
384 Megs RAM
700 Mhz Processor

I have tested the 7.78 drives already and no dice.  Where is the vsync toggle?

Thanks guys.

The v-sync is controllable with a tweak program. I have it at home, if someone doesn't post it here 1st. Setting my geforce to the highest video setting (shift F1) helped me get rid of my flashes.

The above link is from Hercules/Guillemot troubleshooting section, but I think it can apply to all who have blue flashes.  I had them and the only thing that cured all was getting latest VIA drivers, including 4.05c AGP, and raising IO voltage on my motherboard from default of 3.4 to 3.5.  It was not until I increased voltage that the problem ultimately went away.

Good luck!
