Ok glad you joined up

First thing is enjoy the game
Second thing is go to the traing arena here you will useual find some one who will help you through the basics .also if you havent got a joystick oull find it hard going.

Everyone wants to jump in and start shooting the red guys  but spend some time in the training arena learning basic aircraft  and tank  handling  and bombing ect  with the help of others there.

in the main arenas  youll find not many people willing to answer your questions so youll get frustrated and annoyed.

question like how do i fly or how do i move my tank dont go down well in the main arenas.

once you got the basics you can try in the main arenas pick a plane you like and fly it  find how it reacts  and what you can do with it,try to stick to maybe 1 or 2 fighters or bombers  till you can handel them really well.

set your gun convergence to about 300 and try to get in close.

most times the guys will let you tag along if they flying in a mission or a mission is posted.

youll also find  a mic is a good investment as long as you dont scream over it like a 12 year old boy with his nuts caught in his zip

.have fun and see you in the virtual skys

Welcome smithmi!

In addition to the tips the others already posted:

There is no all over "master plan"... In the Main Arenas, pretty much anything goes... do whatever you feel like doing at the moment.

If you like joint efforts: Ocassionally there will be Missions posted and run by other players. When you partake in one of those, you "silently" accept the mission leader as CO for that sortie at least.

Aside from missions, there will always bee somewhat loose teamwork on capturing territory. Every now and then, youll see calls for assistance on country channels. If you follow those calls is entirely up to you though.

Youll soon find out that theres a whole bunch of "Wannabe Generals" - theyll try to order you around, usually in CAPS, since they are very very important. Youll get a hang quick of whats a "legit" call for help and whats not. Again, what you do is entirely up to you - theres no such thing as a "command structure" among players.

Its the hotkey for closing any Windows application - in other words: it crashes your game.

Some people find it funny to tell new players in the arena that ALT_F4 gives you "extra ammo" or "makes you takeoff"... so any time someone tells you that its the key command for something, ignore the clown :).

Alt+F4 shuts down Aces High. Some not so nice people will tell you it does something like "extra ammo" or "warp speed". Don't fall for it.

Edit: Dang Schatzi beat me. :)
