Yeah, I tend to agree...  Usually, there is one person that stands out among the crowd, but unless something comes up soon, Republicans may be the last one standing when the music stops...

Democrat, Independent, Republican make the label makes no difference to me.

Medical care, foreign policy, marriage, abortion, domestic policy, tax structure, education, manufacturing, immigration . . . in no particular order, off the top of my head these will be the things I will be listening for.

And listening over the long-haul from now until November '08.  Tons of stuff will be bandied about with Tabloid Journalism crowing over the backyard fence.  Much of it is ignorable.

I'm happy I'm sans TV and can cull what I need from print and the internet news sites.  Still sensational, but much easier to control than the other box with lights and wires.

p.s. I am resigned that my "policy list" will not be shared buy a single candidate.

Poverty breeds more poverty.

Laziness breeds more poverty.  It's damn near socialistic to think that people are in the situation they are in because they can't do anything else.

Oh yeah, 12 more years til I can legally run for president Skuzz.  But I suspect I'll be leading the US way before that...

Why do you suspect that? Did your authorization for ego reduction surgery come through?
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Yeah wouldn't want your level 1's and 2's to go against your platform eh? Seeing as how so many of them are, well...your potential constituency.

So you have a head start on getting corrupted?  :)

I have considered running, as I am prone to shoot off my mouth a lot about this area of concern, but I am also prone to want to do something about it.

However, it is my firm belief an honest man cannot win any political office.  And the higher you go, the more corrupt you must become to get there.

social programs breed poverty just as abortion clinics breed abortions.  The more government "anti poverty" programs we have the worse off we will be.   they are nothing but a way to keep people in poverty while providing a way for criminals to scam taxpayer money...

vouchers are the only fair way for more reasons than I have the energy to type...  public schools are failing us and it is probly teachers who think poverty breeds poverty and that we can tax our way into prosperity who are to blame for public schools failure with their smug, closed society and unwillingness to allow competition...

TR was the best pres we ever had.   A return to those values would be a very good thing.

Compromise is not always a good thing... you don't compromise with those who would take away your rights for instance... the people who most want compromise are those who want to take from you it would seem to me... They are the ones unable to see right and wrong and only see various shades of gray.

Hugo Chavez in 08!!!!!!!  He has rebuilt his country from US's secret  whippin boy to a independent nation that is now in the worlds focusand respected by many for the balls to stand up to American pressure (and had survived US backed assassination attempts....now with help from Chinese SF).  Capitalism took a backseat to takin care of his people. If money is more important to you than your fellow countryman than you have got it all backwards.  He is the best conservative for the job....otherwise expect Obama Hussein or Clinton to be ur next prez.......Gotta love America!!!:rofl :rofl :rofl

I agree about TR, but I'm thinking you've missed a few chapters in your history book.

"Let the watchwords of all our people be the old familiar watchwords of honesty, decency, fair-dealing, and commonsense."... "We must treat each man on his worth and merits as a man. Actually, considering the times, he was the best America could hope for.

Never elected to the office (or to VP for that matter), was smart enough to pardon Nixon so the country did not continue to tear itself apart over the next three to six years (think the Clinton impeachment, only longer, and a lot worse in all respects....), and didn't really manage to screw anything up too badly while in the office.

Not only served in the military, but with distinction, during WWII.  Survived 2 assassination attempts (good thing women can't shoot straight ...lol!).  He was a Republican President hamstrung by a Democratic controlled Congress which could override any veto of his easily.  Oversaw the withdraw from Vietnam, aftermath of Watergate, the Helsinki Accords, swine-fly pandemic scare, and very rough economy with high inflation, 70's oil shock....

....and he probably accomplished more after his Presidency than during it.  He and Carter probably both have done more than any of their fellow former Presidents, by keeping so active.

A great President?  No....but we don't get those anymore.  Actually, we don't get great leaders in politics or the military as a general rule these days.  And you can find fault in ANY President from history.  But Ford was a good president, not thought of that way at the time, but history seems to be making that judgment now that he was better than many.
