Maps with snow are not possible until HTC makes a REAL snow tile. The custom ones we terrain editors have will not be accepted in MA terrains.

Snow terrain textures would be accepted but are not preferred because of the increased size of the .res file.

I tend to recall some other reason that snow textures aren't accepted. But for the life of me I can't recall what it was.

Most of the people you meet in life are like slinkies. Pretty much useless, but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

Well, I'm still based on the part that custom textures aren't accepted because the map becomes obsolete after a particular game update.

Nope, textures wouldn't become obsolete if they are in the .res file and provided with the map source (required for MA maps). And provided the way the textures are blended doesn't change again.

I think the main reason snow textures aren't accepted is because in order for the terrain to look right you would have to provide custom objects (trees at the very least) and those aren't allowed for MA use.

Correct, you have more of an insight since you've done it, I've stayed with the regular tiles and only played around with the water. Yet do you think we could change the water tile some for MA terrains?

Still would like to see it in the MA's!! The maps w/ the snow rol in the Spec. Events :D

How come we are stuck w/ the maps we have now?  I miss the large maps, before we had EWA Green, MWA Purple, & LWA's Orange 'n' Blue.

I haven't messed with textures in ages but I don't see why not. Provided the animated water doesn't have something to do with the original texture.

Hitech mentioned that when the arena formats changed (From 1 MA holding around 700 people to 3 arenas holding what.. 250 people?) the maps that were going to be used would be a smaller size as well. That is until HTC gets used to the new arena format. Afterwards HTC would start using larger terrains again.

Animated Water screws my frame rate up; but when I'm in a special events scenario it doesn't effect my frm. rate… go figure.

While the large maps are out of rotation for now, there are at least six in rotation for mid and late war.

Baltic
Mindnao
Ndiles
Sfma
Smpizza
Mmesa

And at least one more that's in rotation for early and mid war....

Beta2

Large maps that are out of rotation are...

Compello
Donut
Equinox
FesterMA
Frac3
OzKansas
Trinity

Off-Topic for a moment, how do you activate "animated water"? I'd like to see what it looks like, although I heard it's nasty.
