Help - Saitek Lock Up Problems
« on: June 05, 2000, 07:01:00 PM »
Hello
I recently purchased the X36 combo USB. Fantastic stick. I had the buggy analog version for years, switched to the Sidewider PP (analog) and then back to the USB X36 after reading all your posts and realizing I needed more buttons in AH.
Problem is that when I'm online for a while (less than 30 minutes), the computer freezes (with a ticking noise) or reboots itself. The only way to release the lockup is to power cycle the computer (reset). I noticed the USB Host controller and the NIC (CABLE MODEM) both share IRQ 3 (com 2 disabled). Is this an issue? I do not seem to have any problems when flying around offline. I am running a Abit BE6 with a P3 500, 128 meg of ram, V550 diamond video with 16 meg of ram at 1024x768 at 32 bit color. The X36 is the only USB device on the system. I didn't have any lock up problems running the analog Sidewinder through the game port. Scandisk and defrag - AOK. Running latest Saitek software and DirectX 7.0a.
thanks in advance for any help

Eagler, are you sure this is being caused by the new stick?  Can you switch back to the sidewinder for a test session for verification?
