That is Stereoscopic 3D. Just wondering because it looks so pretty and adds a whole new dimension to the game (pun intended). The new cockpits look especially pretty with gunsights right in your face so to speak.

I use it with AH, WW2OL, and FS X. AH and FS X support page sequential 3D on nvidia cards - each eye piece gets a slightly different image. I use all 3 with the headtracking too (a native driver rather than the crappy mouseview driver they supply).

Will post a full write up on it in a few days. But was curious if anyone else uses 3d, like with shutter glasses etc.

I saw it for $687....much better but still a pretty darn big hit right in the wallet.

I was willing to shell out some money to try out TrackIR which was a bit of a risk because there were many who said they could never get used to it but $700? I think I'll wait until I have a chance to actually try one out myself in AH before I'd even consider a purchase. Of course, where they really need to go is VR. For instance, look down and change a radio frequency by actually using your hand. Now, that's going to be cool when they get to it.

There's actually cheaper ways of doing it -

1)edimensional glasses

2) eyeforce glasses

plus a few others.

I used to have some wicked3d glasses I used, AH looked very '3d'.

You need to make sure that whatever you get that preferably it uses the nVidia 3d consumer drivers.

well ive just gone back to work (diggin holes and putting up bits of wood so people dont have to look at each other in thier gardens) first time since november.

i rekon by 2008 ill be fluid enough to get one of these, thanks for the heads up (lol what a terrible pun, ill just go out back and shoot myself)

I would suggest getting a cheaper ($70-ish) set of glasses first and trying it, it's not everyones 'cup of tea'.

how do the glasses work, to save me researching if you would be so kind?

i always thought that 3D glasses only worked on speacial films that are colour coordinated and split into two overlaying images without the glasses to view through. so im assuming they are similar to the headset and have a live feed linked into dual displays.

are they really any good?

The ones i had used polarised shutters, no longer use the red/green lenses.

Main prob with red/green was that it forced your eyes to diverge and caused eyestrain very quickly.

They actually worked remarkably well.
You could see the tracers 'reaching' out to the target.

The best effect was in any of the first person shooters, the gunsight would actually move backwards and forwards as you moved it across various objects on the screen.

Unfortuneatly mine broke some time ago and I just never got around to replacing them.

^ thats what I was wondering about. I know the headsets going to be a rare beast, but theres lots of other 3D solutions and I was wondering if other people tried them.

Theres quite a few games that support 3D.
