Is there a way to fix it?
« on: January 25, 2007, 04:01:09 PM »
This is gonna touch on a subject already sorta beat to death, but i have to bring it up again. Every night the same thing. Rook and biosh horde the orange arena and keep the knights down to there uncap bases becasue they cant seem to get land from each other. Knights seem to horde the blew arena. I try the blue and get run out every night because of ENY. So i go to orange and soak up 2.00 perk bonus in target rich area. This whole multi-arena idea is nuts. Lets one or two countries jump to horde that area. ENY isnt even good deterant. Bish had and eny of 20+ for a long time. It was even at 29 for a bit. I just wonder why every night the hordes are always in the same arena. And the milkers go to MW and EW.

Have to agree with all of the above.  In truth the arena splits have accomplished the opposite of what all the griping in previous months was all about.

However I believe technical and marketing concerns will rule the way, as is right and proper for HTC.

It comes down to same thing.  We as the community of players need to modify our behaviors, not HTC.

the ENY system needs tweaking. perhaps in addition to ENY limiting, the number of troops needed to capture a maproom changes with ENY limiter.

say bish are 45% of arena, they need 15 troops to capture, 50% and 25 etc...

Does it seem to anyone else, or just me, that the cure has been worse than the original problem?

Alot of people are starting to wish that HTC had never made any changes at all...You can't control human nature, and giving it a way to run rampant, Is like throwing gasoline on your house while it's on fire.

HTC's original intent was to give us some choices as to How and in what style we wanted to play this game...Unfortunately, It actually turned out to be a way to enable people to make the sides lopsided, so as to ensure that no matter what you do with ENY, or side balancing, There will always be one side with an unfair numbers advantage. We had lopsided days even with the old MA, but when you have 600+ people, 20-30 are not such an advantage(With about 175-200 a side.) With the lower arena populations we have now, 20-30 make enough of a difference to make people want to log...throwing it more outta whack...Thereby forming a vicious circle.

I'm sure that now that things have pretty much settled since the August-September changes, that HTC's had a chance to evaluate the effects of those changes, and will be able to have some hindsight as to what he does next.

Since the split ive noticed that the gang-bang (from which ever actual countries hold advantage) is worse than it ever was. Maybe its just me, and/or my odd timezone. There always seems to be a clear looser country while the other two are very strong. I think the numbers/siutation were more balanced with just one arena, IMO.

So if i understand this correctly.
A country has to hold a % of its own or all of its own bases?

And while doing so, they capture a % of each of the other two countries bases (40% as i see it now) to win a reset?)

At present, mugz, I believe you have to hold 90% of the fields you start out with, in addition to capturing 40% of the other two countries' fields.

I don't pay much attention to the war progress, having flown primarily for the side with the least numbers, and without any real interest in taking bases, so I may be incorrect in this assessment.

Based on that hub.
I think the complaining must be more about the (feel) of being against the wall rather than the fear of eminent reset?

Or said this way. It isn’t that a country is P Oed that they are losing the map...but rather they feel inferior based on the situation of the map?

i dont know why everyone is so upset???

the other morning i logged on early and decided to check out EW.  there were 7 players in there and the lowest ranked pilot was 200.  there were a few with rank above 20!!! i can but reach the OBVIOUS conclusion that the plan has succeeded!!! EW is where the L33t pilots go to fight each other!!!

i will say the new cloaking device is confusing because i couldnt find anyone to test my skills against...so i bombed some strat with ju87s and captured some v-bases...

carry on;)

My biggest complaint, and I believe it's shared by others as well, is that the status quo is one country dominating one arena, and the underdog country in that arena being the mob in the other arena. Where we had one arena that was mostly imbalanced before, we now have 2 arenas with that imbalance.

As an example, last night was something like 110 bish, 80 knits, and 130 rooks in one arena, with number like 75,90, 50 in the other. So, it's pretty much the same kinds of imbalance I remember seeing in the past, except now there are twice as many hordes, and twice as many underdogs. Gameplay is entirely unchanged.

So, basically, yeah Mugz, I don't think it's losing the bases sucks, so much as the way in which they're lost (the underdog faces 2:3 odds on one front, and 1:2 on the other.
