Something I don't understand the purpose of. Right now (middle of the day for me) the Orange Arena is full at 122 players with max capacity of 120, and has been that way for at least 10-15 minutes. Blue max capacity is 170 and hafl full.

In the evening the maximums go up to as high as 340 or more, I guess to accommodate the large number of expected players.

So my question is why the low maximums during the day if it's proven that they can opperate fine with higher maximums at night? Why do we even need two LW arenas during the day if one at 340 might suffice? Why the artifical restriction during the day that prevents me from playing in Orange and forces me into Blue where I don't want to go? (FYI- EW and MW do not interest me at all)

Just wondering the logic and purpose of it all, cause it makes no sense to me right now.

Not really a whine. If I wanted to whine I could have done much better. The question is real. Just wondering why the capacitiy isn't 340 or something larger than 120 if that capacity can work.
What then is the purpose of keeping people split between two small arenas during the day.
I'm simply curious at this point.

You love the LW,,, you must be one of the HOOOOOOOers or RAMMMMMers. That is all I ever get in the late war. I fly mid and early only,,, as it takes skill to fly in these two arena's.

fireplug1111, Do you know what both HO's and ram's have in common?

It takes 2 to do both.

If you have either happen to you frequently, then you are what you accuse others of being.

There is ACM to avoid it, even in LW planes.

I can only speculate that it's about maximizing profit. 1 MA wouldn't grow past 700 people. 2 MA's, yet to be proven, may allow growth. That's to say the newbies might cotton on to where the fight is in the arena and ACTUALLY sign up. However, kids on school brake need to learn pester power to get dads credit card.

the main issue that you, kev and me and MANY other euro players have is wanting to play during offpeak.

its ok when only 1 LW is open, but when the "change over" happens and the 2nd server opens, its almost impossible to play for a few hours, because 1LW is full and the other is empty, if i wanted to fly around a empty arena, i would fly offline mode or H2H.

this is ALWAYS going to be a issue if there are two LW's in the evening and one during the day. The opening of the 2nd arena messes up a few hours of game play for the people unlucky enough not to have gotten into 1st arena before the cap was dropped to force people into LW2.

During the day, just 1 arena is all that is needed.... whats the point of having 2 other arenas with 8vs10vs1 etc?

IF, however 2 LW arenas run all day, with the rolling cap set at low to keep them BOTH occupied, at least we would have a choice of two arenas, like 70players in one, and 60 in the other.

however if you dont like it you get brushed under the carpet and told to leave.... or forced.....

One big LWA during peak time was creating an unhealthy environment, I'll agree with that. However, during offpeak hours, (when a single arena probably would suffice), how do you determine when to toggle between 1 and 2 arenas? Do you force others to tolerate crappy numbers while the arena populations build, or do you boot a bunch of folks in order to consolidate as numbers fluctuate? Who wins in that kind of situation?

I feel for you guys (having flown offpeak a few times, and hated it), because it can really suck, but from HTC's perspective, how do you deal with it in a practical manner?

get a larger non-american player base so it never drops too low lol

as i said hub, if the arena rolling cap started at 60, we could have 2 arenas with 60-70 players in. that way we will NEVER have to be forced into a 2nd server with no one playing inside.

Sloehand, the arena caps are set on "Automatic". You posted that Orange was full, and Blue was half full. As Blue gets more full and hits the trigger point (not sure of the percentage, but lets say 80% of the arena population) The orange cap "automatically" increases from the 120 cap it has to say 170. They move up and down like this as people sign on and off.

This continues right along for both arenas. HTC set it up that way so the arenas would grow equally, instead of one arena being full at 400, and 40 players in the other. Is the system perfect? maybe not, but it does make it more fun for more people and thats what its all about.

My friend, I disagree. I used to say this very same thing, until recently. You can be rammed from any angle, it does not have to be HO.
Also, you can be HO'd attempting to avoid it. I seem to be victim of a rash of this lately. In a HO approach, I invariably dive to attempt to get below, with E, of my opponent. I can't tell you how many times I have them diving at me, guns ablazing.

It takes TWO to avoid the HO. It's darn hard to avoid it under certain circumstances if they are intent on it.

"Trigger Points" and "Percentage" are the Key factors.
Hopefully they will be tweaked soon.

the setup currently has one server with 200 players in it, then at a set time, this server has its cap moved to 120 and the 2nd arena opens.

however this means for a few hours there is NO server you can join and have fun in, unless you like flying 1on1s or 1on0s.
