AH Monitor advice
« on: January 26, 2007, 06:59:11 PM »
I'm using an old, 17" LCD that generally works just fine for me. My practical side says I could keep using it indefinitely, although the "I wanna I wanna I wanna" side says I should think about an upgrade.

Eventually, my inner toddler will win out. I've always had a squirrel's approach to big ticket purchases -- put it away a little at a time, save it up for the future. I've got a ways to go till the new monitor.

But I've been pricing and keeping up with the tech issues, and an AH specific question has come up.

With wide screen formats, will I lose vertical view range? Or, can things be configured so the lateral "extra" edges of the view space are blacked out, like a sideways letterbox movie?

Im looking at getting a whole new system tomorrow.

Monitors i'm not that great with and will upgrade my current one at the end of next month.

Panel Type: TFT LCD
Panel Size 22" Wide
Max. Resolution SXGA 1680x1050
Pixel Pitch 0.282mm
Brightness (Max.) 300cd/?
Contrast Ratio (Max.) 700:1
Viewing Angle (H/V) 170°/160°
Display Colors 16.7M
Response Time 2ms (G to G)

does that sound any good for AH?  the GFX card going into this puppy will be able to light a small village so im looking for a decent monitor to go with it.

Thanks in advance

Bruv. that one will be perfect....2ms response is awesome. brightness and contrast are both very good. In fact you might find yourself turning down your gamma cause its so bright.
i have a 22in monitor with almost the same specs and it is awesome. Had to turn gamma down to .64 from 1.00 but the game look great on it.:aok

1280x1024. Other that the trees, which have been screwed up sense the update to 2.09 everything is crisp and clear
