Benny Moore was shot down by So-and-So (20 rounds)

I was wondering if it might be possible to implement a system by which you could find out how many bullets hit a particular ship.  This could either be put in the kill message, or looked up in statistics somewhere.  It would be very useful for determining which aircraft are more sturdy and for judging your gunnery.  It could also remove a source of contention amongst players ("omg how did you rip my wing off me with one stinking bullet?!").

J_A_B and I did a little bit of testing on durability a few years ago.

The B-17's tail takes 17 Hispano rounds to knock off.

The Lancaster's takes 14.

The Mosquito's takes 3.

The Bf110's takes 2.

Using the single 20mm cannon on the P-38 and flying 50 yards behind the target, firing one round at a time and noting carefully where the rounds landed.  Multiple tests on each aircraft type produced the same results.

I'm STILL waiting for them to fix kill recording so the guy who causes the most CATASTROPHIC damage gets more weight towards the kill than just the guy who put the most bullets in.

It's annoying shearing the wing off a Spit with a half-second burst of .50cal, only to lose the kill to someone else who pinged up the fuselage and caused negligible, if any, damage five minutes ago.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

God I hear you on that. Far too often do I use my last 30mm round on a spixteen, blow his wing clear off, only to find some dweeb in an Spixteen who hit him with 2 .50s to my one 30mm.

Might want to do that test again.  Took off a B-17's tail with only 4-5 20mm rounds last night.

That's incorrect according to Hitech, the 2 .50's = a 20MM or something, might be 3 .50's.  let me look for the thread.

Couldn't find the actual thread but it was posted in this thread

Damage also changes with range so 2 20 mm hits at close range could do more damage than 8 50 cal hits at longer range.

R4M is not correct pilot kills are no different than any other damage.

Assist are not meeningless they help in your point total.

3 50cals equal 1 20mm (I think specifically, 1 Hispano).

Hey ack-ack, you sure he wasn't already wounded? I've never taken down a B17 with so few rounds.

The number of bullet hit sounds that play is equal to the number of hits you take, even if you enter the tower quickly. Before, lag was unaccounted for and if someone absolutely mauled you with .50s but your connect was a little slower, you'd hear one hit and be in the tower. This spawned "OMG 1 .50 killd meh plane!!!" posts until HTC decided to not stop the sounds when you enter the tower.

Long story short, if you can count really fast, you hear every bullet hit you as long as your game doesn't crash or something.

Flesh is like that. ;) It all depends on where you're hit. You do hear every bullet hit you. It's yet another thing that was mentioned at the last Aces High convention. I don't remember if it was HT or Pyro who stated it, though.
