Got to watch the Guardian last night on DVD.

I'm disappointed. Absolutely nothing new here.

I've seen this movie before... Top Gun, Officer and a Gentlemen, Heartbreak Ridge, GI Jane... hell they lifted the ending right out of Vertical Limit.

Yeah... it's pretty and all and we get the joy of seeing Kelso cry real puppy dog tears, but it's just flat and predictable.

I can't imagine a movie I would have less interest in unless it had snakes or snow in it.

Did the movie have snakes or snow?

Hmmm... it started out in Alaska. Does that count?

The only acurate things in that movie were these.

HH-60 Helicopter
C-130
Uniforms
The training pool (That's in Elizibeth City NC. Been in that pool before)
Most of the training

One of the guys in the movie is married to an SK1 I work with and he is an ASM1. He was supposed to be a technical advisor for the movie and the director asked him if he would like to be in it instead. Kinda cool.

The restraunt scene with all the hot chicks running around was totaly fake. I live about 40 minutes from Elizibeth City NC where the real school is at and believe me, there isn't a fancy place like that there and I've never seen women that hot in E City EVER.

The bar fight.....yeah right.

My first thought when I saw the previews. I kept looking for Viper and Jester in the background.

The moment I heard that it was a Costner flik I knew it would suck.  With that 70s guy I knew absolutely it would suck.

I don't think it was the acting that hurt this movie. It was the crap script.

I just saw it on the plane. A good plane flight movie. The "guardian" bit at the end was extra over the top.

As Sandy said, the whole thing was the offspring produced when "Officer and a Gentleman" ****ed "Top Gun" in the ass.

What about the blubbering "I've been a bad boy" pool scene :) The only thing missing was: "I've got nowhere else to go...blubber blubber" And, just substitute a school room for the textile factory when he goes to get the girl. Uugh. How can I get a job earning 6-7 figures as a script recomposter.

How did you end up having ANY expectations for that movie? You should be happy that your TV didn't explode, or a meteor didn't destroy your house.

RPM is NOT going to be happy.

He actually sorta liked the movie.

Then again Coasties like anything that gives them attention.

Yeah, I sorta liked it. It was by no means "12 O'Clock High" or anything close to it. I was actually surprised by the performances Costner and Kutcher gave. Far above the suck-0-rama I was expecting.

I gotta agree with Sandy about the ending. I hear there's an alternate ending on the DVD. Somebody will have to tell me about it because I'm not buying the DVD.
