Luger Question
« on: January 27, 2007, 01:17:57 PM »
So I just found out from my in-laws, that my "Granny in-law" is giving my wife a Luger.

I haven't held the gun myself yet, but over the phone they described some of the engraving on it.

Serial # = 4418

Gesighert (sp?) engraved behind the safety

And some fancy letters engraved on top...looks like an "L" "W" "?" (unknown letter/symbol) and "C"

I've checked a little bit online, but haven't found much about the engraving and symbols on Lugers...

Anyone know what these engravings are?  Submanufacturers?

The word Gesichert behind the safety means "safe".

As for manufacterer data and markings, check out this link:

If they can get a picture of the top of the gun we can positively ID it.
