TIR4 bug
« on: January 26, 2007, 12:03:06 PM »
This has been a nagging little bug since I got TIR4. I was hoping it might be addressed with TIR driver build 28 -- no, then 29 -- no, now 30 -- still no.  I have posted this at the NaturalPoint forum and they are looking at it.  Thought it might be wise to post here too as maybe it's an AH bug not a TIR bug.

I'm flying along in Aces High and look over at the television to check the score (takes 30 seconds or so). My head turns completely out of TIR4 range. When I turn my head back to the game, my view is looking straight down toward my cockpit seat. I have to recenter to correct it. I'm certain that there is no lights in the TIR field of view confusing it.  The room is mostly dark.  Not a big deal but it would be nice to get that fixed.  This doesn't happen every time; more like one out of five.

Is this a bug with Aces High or TIR? I don't play any other games so I have nothing to compare to.

Thanks

It's a glitch in TIR4. I have the same probelem in AH and FSX.
The only thing I could find to get around it was to edit the axis
involved and limit my head-down travel.
This seemed to come into existance with 029 as I recall some
folks saying they reverted to 028 and the problem went away.

Thanks for the info GB.  I was thinking I've been seeing this little glitch since before 28 but perhaps I'm mistaken.  I took the liberty to quote you on the NaturalPoint forum in hopes it will help them.  Actually my real motivation here is to get them paying attention to Aces High in hopes that we may see improvement overall.  This particular bug is not a big deal but if we can get smoother, more accurate functionality from TIR then we all win.

Thanks

4.1 Build 28

I do not have this problem, nor have I ever had this problem.

I have experienced the same thing starting with v 28.  Still see it consistently with 30. I usually get it when I look down at the keybord.  My room hasno windows and very dim lighting.  It's not ambient light.  I hesitate to call it a problem since any time I've taken my eyes of the screen I've momentarily missed whats there anyway and it's easy to recenter.  It's more a mild irritation.  I've used three radically different profiles and they have not made any difference.  (This glitch is not the reason I have changed profiles.)
Balrog in game. Some day my performance may justify the name. LOL

Why don't you just get a new unit.  Send in your unit and have them fix it.  It could be a hardware problem.

Also, you can see what your sensor sees.  It's in the software.

Does the glitch occur during setup mode?  Bring up the 3d head and see if you can see the glitch.

I have rebought this peice of gear .

I installed 28 version of the files off the cd .

It doesn't do that . I tried to MAKE it do it , nope it doesn't .

I also noticed that it turns on and off with no delay like Homeboy talks about . None , what so ever .

I do have a problem now with my vox in AH online , no one hears me and I CAN'T  hear them . I can make a film it works I hear myself both channels . I can make a windows recording , works fine .

I am wondering if avast with the new update has changed something or it's Trackir . I got both about the same time with a case of the Flu :( been pretty sick and still have it .

I am downloading AH to reinstall if I have to , plus gonna turn on antivirus and recheck vox .

===

I bought Trackir for FS2004 , I still think AH views work better in combat then Trackir . It's wonderfull in flight sim though :)
