Lost my vox in game , help please
« on: January 28, 2007, 05:13:04 AM »
No one hears me , and I can't hear anyone else in game .

I checked and did all this so far .

Made film and used range and squad , both vox's highlight in the little box on screen when I talk . I ran the film , I hear myself fine .

I made a windows recording , works fine , I hear myself .

Downloaded AH again , uninstalled the game and reinstalled . Rechecked the above again , still the same .

Stoped my antivirus "avast!" and tryed that online , still the same .

Things that are differant atm are avast! got a big update change mid week I think and I got Trackir on Friday , I been sick so yesterday was first day back playing and noticed no one talking :(

All the checks I did above has been with Trackir off , I have that set to not turn on unless I turn it on so the pc doesn't auto it and I fresh booted also .

I read the sticky , and set the voice setting off wave . Still not working .

I even signed up for msn messenger and it works with voice to my wifes pc fine .

ATM I am at a loss at what to try or do next .

Skuzzy any ideas ?

I learned from LYNX to type my name in the V box on radio to check and see if vox works . Go luck , no hear anything online . I did type in SERVER in that spot off line and it works fine . Something is blocking vox for me looks like online .

It used to work , I checked Windows firewall and AH is enabled . Game works fine but for vox .

gonna give up for now , too sick with the flu for anymore problems atm .

:cry

I set my router ip address to open ports 2000 to 6000 now all the servers BUT

LWO and Training has vox working .

Only had this router pc for 4 years and it always hooked up to AH fine not now .

Donno why LWO or Training don't work either as the rest do , at least for now .

Learned quite a bit this morning though .

My Lan address is 1 , my router is 2 , my pc is 4 and my wifes is 3 :)

WinXP inside and out is good book , it helped .

First I set my pc ports up on the router , 2000 - 6000  ,  ip to 4 and only the bottom 4 MA showed up , and no vox .

I said hmmmm , so I set my router IP address in instead of my pc IP adress and it worked all but Orange and Training .

I think I have it set right atm .

UPDATE , Monday morning 9:35 AM Eastern .

They all work but LWO and Training . Since I got the 2000 - 6000 ports open all but those two work .

Why would two NOT work ? What has changed ? I am wondering why after 4 plus years I have to now open those ports up for Vox to work on all but those two MAs ? The game worked fine either way btw , just Vox didn't work .

LWB is working fine but not LWO .

A week ago , they all worked fine without me having to set my router up like this .

spro <--- confused

=======

Just a note , don't get this flu , I feel like I am coughing up my lung from time to time . Dang it hurts doing that . I am getting better though , slowly .

I have been unable to hear in Training since first starting AH almost 3 years ago. I have been deaf inLW Orange since that arena was created.

I AM NOT A BIZARRE FREAK!!!!

(At least in terms of vox problems)

While its good news to know you're not alone, the bad news is that no one at HTC has any idea why this happens. I have been emailing and trying stuff with skuzzy for almost 2 years.

What kind of connect do you have? I have cable/ cable modem.

Confirm a couple things for me, if you would. Plug your computer's cable DIRECTLY into your internet access port, bypassing the router. See if the vox problem is still there. (It is for me.) Also, find out if others can hear YOU in the problem arenas....usually by asking on text for anyone  to type something if they can hear you. Not everyone is nice enough to respond to this, so don't give up right away.

Post what you find........

Spro -- you are in Michigan? Who is your ISP -- mine (N Ohio -- Sandusky area) is Buckeye Cable, which I think is a Warner Cable subsidiary. I know that this ISP extends into the Toledo area and into some parts of southern MI, though I'd bet they use a different trade name in MI.

Here's the link to my isp Click HERE I live in the middle of the mitten .

I have wireless high speed with a dialup backup if it's down . So far over 2 years now it's pretty good . Hardly ever have to use the dialup part , handy thing to have though .

I just did some tests .

Opened ALL the ports on my router , 1 - 50some thousand , blue works  but orange and training , so put that back to 2000 - 6000 again .

I then dialed up on my pc AH , orange and training works . I tried blue , orange and training they all work .

I then installed AH on my wifes ( my old gaming pc ) PC , went online with high speed again and blue works but not orange or training .

So I guess it's as you say , "we" have a problem .

I would call my isp if I had the right questions to ask them . Right now asking them "Why doesn't LWO and Training vox work when all the others do ?" Just doesn't seem to be the right question , lmao .

Not so funny as it's two of us now . I wonder how many more it effects that don't post here ?

BTW you can test vox buy typing your name in the V channel . I also asked when on dialup if they could hear me in LWO . Yep they answered on range vox :)

I am wondering if this can't be fixed on AH end as all but two don't work . I don't care about Training , but do play in Orange and Blue both as Late War is all I really care about , or did .

Spro:

It may actually get easier now that there are 2 of us with the exact same problem, because we can probably assume that whatever causes this can be found in something we have in common.

So -- looks like we have different ISPs. That makes me think that it isnt from the ISP, or that both ISPs are doing the SAME something that other ISPs dont. Otherwise, its not the ISP.

Also, in a long series of tests my ISP tech guys did, they were able to document with some command line magic that my computer registered the AH used ports as active and open even when I was not hearing sound.

Do you have cable connection, or DSL, or what? I have cable.

My cable modem is Motorola SB5100.

Now I'm wondering if the problem is in the data flags AH uses to identify incoming stuff as "vox to play." Maybe those are getting stripped off somewhere in the chain, but I have NO IDEA -- I am NOT  a tech guy. I'm just desperate and deaf -- and alone, because I can't get any suggestions even for where to look any more.

Agree completely, spro.

We've both posted in both forums -- I'm going to try to keep things simpler by moving my discussion to the thread in Help forum. No particular reason I picked that one, except that I responded there first and dont want to type it again!!!

Simaril , I have this , it's "like" cable but without the cable . I put the link to my isps website , it tells all about it . I also have a static IP address that I pay extra for .

I am figureing that it will start working again maybe , if not I will just play in LWB or quit if it gets on my nerves enough .

Mine is intermittent. It goes out, usually in a lot of action when I need it, then comes back on later, today it was after landing.  I thought it was my choice of an Auzentech card, so I switched to onboard, then disabled the onboard and tried my friends Audigy 2 zs (the holy grail of AH cards), but got the same results. Each time, I uninstalled the previous drivers and loaded only the driver for the new card (using drivercleaner in between).  I stuck and very frustrated.  It's also not pleasant for the other squad members.

Jazz, is yours a problem in all arenas, or just a few?

And is it hearing only -- so that you can be heard, but you're deaf?

I think it's all arenas.  Both xmit and receive are out when it happens.  It will also come back on or go out in the same sortie.  I check to make sure the sound card had it's own IRQ, which it did.
