Problem starting AH Demo
« on: January 28, 2007, 02:48:48 PM »
I just downloaded the AH II Demo. I took about 20 minutes, and installation about 30 seconds (did I install it right?)

So I click on the icon to start the game, and a white screen appears with a serious error popup. How do I fix it?

Thanks a lot!

Here is a screenshot of the error and my System Info...

you didn't down load a DEMO, you downloaded the whole game !  :) Unfortunately it looks like your computer isn't up to the task of running Aces High. You are under powered in both ram and video card.

If you turn everything down to the very bare minimum you might get it to run, but it won't be pretty.

Hi Flying Fish!

Try updating your graphics chip driver (your version is from 2003!).

Still youll probably have trouble running Aces High with this graphics chip/system. Integrated graphics chips handle AH mediocre at best, with some it does not work at all.
Youre also very low on memory. If you get it to work at all, youll have to go for the lowest vid/graphics settings. In all honesty, I do not believe the game will be very playable online with that Laptop.

By the way, what you downloaded is not a Demo, but the full version of the game. Download/install time sounds about right. The game software in itself is free, but for online gaming (no AI in offline!) youll have to pay a monthly fee of 14.95 USD. You get a two week free trial for online play however.

Good luck!

PS: Sound hardware accelleration needs to be lowered to STANDARD.

So what Graphics card do you suggest? Or should I update the Trident?

or what card would you suggest?

I thought the RAM was ample. It says 256 MB in the system requirements. Mine is 480...

Need to buy 1 gig of ram for game to run smooth, and have a decent video card.

I run geforce 5500FX and have 780mb RAM, and that isn't enough.  I don't mind playing with 10-20 FPS though. :D

Fish,

you cannot "download" a graphics card. Its a card that you have to buy and stick into your computer (hardware!!).
Also, you have a Laptop there. Upgrading it with a graphics card will be expensive, if possiible at all.

What you can try to do is updating (ie downloading and installing) the DRIVERS for the hardware you already have. But I recommend you find someone with a little computer knowledge to help you on that.

Lazer I run with 512 of Memory and I'm fine. You've got another problem methinks.

I'm getting 65- 75 with my AMD 3200 & a 9600 agp all in wonder 256.

You can't get a video card for a laptop, at least to my knowledge. You would have to get a custom built laptop from Alienware/Falcon Northwest etc., to get a beefy video card.

If you have a PC, the Geforce 8800 would run the game. It's a $500 dollar video card. And it's PCI- Express.

Heres a link to the video card

ok, so I'll probably need a new comp...I'm getting one in a years anyway. So see you guys then!

ONE Question though...Will AH run on the Windows Vista Home Edition OS, a Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, and the ATI RADEON® Xpress1150 256MB HyperMemory™ (Integrated) Video Card...

It will have 1 GB of RAM.

Also, will AH run on a AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-50 Processor?

It will probably work.

But note that any integrated graphics chip will never be on the high performance side. Youll always be low end with those.

Will even a Integrated GeForce card be on the low side?

So since this computer is not up to the task of handling this game, I'll see you all later when I get a new computer.

I'm looking forward to flying with you all!
