It's supposed to be. I think it's a warbird (note the aircraft in the background?). I might give it a try if nobody else has done it. My squaddies are bugging me for some 71 Squadron RAF skins :)

I'm actually surprised you haven't done one yet Krusty.  Figured that would be one of the first skins you did.

Hrm... been so long maybe they gave up?

From what I read, Eagle squadron was in SpitVs then transfered to the Air Force (as it was based on the idea of American pilots being used). Did they ever fly any typhoons, or spitIXs or anything?

After they transfered, does anybody know what they moved on to fly? P47s/51s?

They transferred and became the 4th FG. Took their SpitVs with them, then on to P-47Cs, P-51Bs and P-51Ds.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

Oh well... no chance I'll ever get a P51 approved. They already have more than can be shown at one time.

Wow.. talk about ignorance of history! :rofl

They were the 4th Fighter Group.  The terror of the Luftwaffe and London Pubs!  The Dreaded Red Nosed Mustangs of Goering's Nightmares!  The highest scoring group in the Eighth Air Force!  Home of Gentile and Godfrey!  Led by "HorseBack" aka Donald Blakeslee!

"does anyone know what they moved on to fly" hokey smokes Mr. Nixon!
:rofl :rofl

[edit]
Krusty there are 4 P-51Bs, 4 P-47D11s and 2 P-51Ds in 4th FG livery now.  That green striped P-51D you liked is a 4th FG plane.  I think you need to get off the internet and buy "The Mighty Eighth" by Freeman!

I admit I don't know much about the US specific units, because it's hard to keep the numbers lined up with what they did. I mean, take the P47 skins I made. EVERY time I wanted to know what FS/FG they were in, I had to look up what I'd written down. I just can't remember pure numbers. LW numbers are a little easier to understand because you'll have less numbers with more gruppes per number. RAF are a little easier to remember because they don't have FS/FG, just "xxx Squadron". US number have always eluded my ability to remember them, so I can never say for sure what goes with what.

Or you could just ask.  Guessing there might be more then one 4th FG junkie in these parts who could connect the 71 Squadron to 334th FS, 4th FG  dots for ya :)

XR squadron code of 71 became QP codes with the 334th.

Lots of QP kites about.  My favorite B model skin is the silver QP-L bird.
