Joystick mixing and matching

Is there a way to take a piece from one joystick and substitute it for the part of a different joystick?

I just got a new stick, and I love the base of it. It's got a bunch of buttons, a great throttle, and 3D rudder. I just hate the stick part of it. The handrest is uncomfortable, the hatswitch is short, and one of the buttons for your thumb is small.

If I could take the stick (or just some of the buttons) from my old stick and attach them to the base of my new stick, I'd have exactly what I'm looking for.

Almost anything is possible given the right knowledge tools and equipment.

Maybe if you actually said what the gear you have, some-one could tell you more. e.g. if from the same manufacturer, maybe the sticks share common mountings, who knows ?

One thing for sure, you can kiss goodbye to the warranty as soon as you start to meddle!

It is fairly common for new sticks to feel strange because you are used to the old one. I would suggest you leave the new one as it at least until you have used it enough to be sure you can't get on with it.

Here's a more practical question: What stick do you have, and what stick do you want to use?

It's possible to have more than 1 stick plugged in at a time. If so just use the rudder or throttle from the one (and push the stick off to the side) and use the stick from the other.

If you're talking about hacking the thing up and reassembling it, it's much harder.
