Gotta love the Corsair.
The thing thing was still sluggin' away in 1969 in a war between El Salvador and Honduras.  I love the camo on these birds.

I've also read about P-51's - some with wing tip tanks ala F-84 being used in those wars.  I think they were called "cavaler" or soemthing like that.

The Dragon Fly was in use down there in the 80's, IIRC, in a combat role.  I think the A-26 was still in the inventory of a couple Central American countries during the soccer war was well.

Heck, the A-26 was still in limited use by the US Air Force in the early/mid-60s.

U.S. Air National Guard retired them from US inventory in 1972.  Around the world, they lasted thru the 80's... maybe even the 90's... as military craft.  Many used as fire bombers to the 90's.  Some converted to executive planes.  About 40 known to be airworthy today.

What I can't remember if I remember seeing Dragonfly's operated by Panama or Hondorus, but I'm pretty sure El Salvador operated them in CAS role.

A few years ago (4 or 5) saw an A26 in Natale, Brazil on display inside the airforce compound while I was airside. A few days later, taking someone who speak the language we asked to be allowed inside to see it. After about 45 minutes of examining passports and other relevant documents they said NO. See ya later.

Dam disappointing.

As was the Douglas A-1 Skyraider.   I believe to celebrate the 6 millionth pound of ordnance dropped in Vietnam, a non-working toilet was dropped.

At the Kalamazoo AirZoo, they have an A-1, it is f**king huge for a prop plane.

The Dragonfly is still there, the Columbian AF alone has claimed nearly a dozen a2a kills agains suspected drug-running aircraft with it since 1998.
