I have a feeling that this disorder and the "gay gene" are very closely related...

Give it twenty years. There'll be lobbyists calling for legislation guaranteeing these people's right to hack off an arm or a leg because they believe they were supposed to be born without it.

Then they'll be eligable for full disability!

edit: WHAT THE HELL IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS AND A SEX CHANGE OPERATION?! We're talking about purposeful mutilation of the human body. Does the size of the apendage matter? What's the difference between a finger or a noodle or an arm or a leg?

Couldn't a judge say she is insane and order her to be evaluated? Would any reputable doctor perform such a surgery?

BIID is supported by psychiatrists. But its more common form is wrong sex identification.

In recent news, there's a boy in germany who always thought he was a girl. This urge was so strong for me that he grew up as a girl and they agreed to do a sex change for him. He's 12 now, he'll be getting the operation at 18.
