Fencer51. Godfrey's second B model
« on: February 05, 2007, 06:26:37 PM »
This is Johnny Godfrey's second B model Mustang.  natural metal but still with the red checkerboard.  I really like the look and it might make a good addition to the B ponies.

I did the profile.  Image from a book I have.

The profile.  I have a decal set that includes the markings as well as their profile if you'd prefer that one.

Wow, imagine the coincidence, I am working on the P-51B template that I started way back in Sept-Oct 05.

I think that one might be worth doing!

Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

Don't think I have that book... huh.

Treize,

I saw a post from you in another thread (I would post there but thread policeman Krusty might get upset) about Salem Representative.  It could be argued that it is the most famous P-51B ever.

Could you elaborate on your point about that skin?

I was going to do it as the guy who had started it let it set for months, I contacted him and he then did finish it and submitt it.
What is the unwritten rule on duplicating skins, ie submitting on a skin which is already in the game?

Let's take Fester for example.  If he wanted to redo my Cripes A'Mighty 3rd I would not object, its the skin that matters not who did it, IMHO.  Yet I get the impression that this view might not be shared by other skinners.

Comments all?

Personaly I think if some one does either  a skin that is already done or submitts  a skin the same as some one else the better skin should be the one that is put in the game.

I know that i have done  a few skins for one particular plane and have taken up some slots for skins, but i wouldnt object if any of my skins were redone or even deleted from the game if it allowed  a superior skin to be allowed in the game.

Failing that it would be good if with the four arenas we could have four lots of skins,ok so it would take  a lot of space but you dont have to download all the skins and you dont have to have your system show others using skins only the one u are using.
The problem would be the amount of space taken on the servers i guess

Issues 2-

All the time spent putting the right individual markings on (the noseart and name on the gear door, thats done well), but the tail markings don't match up from side to side.

first shot...

Plus IMO we need a 4th B/C in D-Day stripes, might as well be the best looking one.

And I agree with Roger, the best version of a skin should be the one in the game. I any of my skins get accepted and someone submits a better version of the same, I wouldn't mind in the least to see it replaced. Most of us seem to do these to fill in a gap or to see our favorite plane in the game, not to see our names in the hangar. (Not saying that about MachNix, just stating my opinion on the matter)

Noooooo!  Not more D-Day stripes!  They just didn't wear em that long, at least the upper wing and fuselage stripes.

I love Salem Rep, but if it's been done without the D-Day stripes or is redone, keep it without.

Still think Godfrey's with the checks is worth doing btw.  Crisp clean look and even though it's a May 44 bird, would still look ok with a September 44 bird

Need a striped B to go with Goodsons striped D. Nothin like a matched pair.

BTW- sorry to anyone if I seem nitpicky and irritable today (both in here and in the arena), I've spent the day going in and out the door shoveling chest deep (and I'm 6'4') snow in 5 degree weather and 20mph winds. Tends to ruin ones mood a bit. What a way to spend the start of my vacation! :cry
