A request for Hitech and crew re: mmesa map

If you have not done so, would you consider using a fuel modifier of somewhat less than 2 when that map rotates into the arena, if it's possible to have different settings on a per terrain basis?

I ask because with the 10-12,000 ft "teacup" walls between many (most) of the fields, in some (I can't say most or all because I don't fly all or even most) aircraft even with 100% fuel load your fight time is limited to a handful of minutes if you are going to have enough fuel to climb back up over the mountains after engaging.

I can live with it the way it is of course - and you may have other considerations that I'm not aware of for leaving it set so high- but I at least would find that terrain far more enjoyable if my biggest consideration on every flight wasn't whether or not I'd have the fuel to get back home.

and TIA for reading this,

I'd rather they just dumped that map in the trash. It's annoying as heck to have to climb out 12k+ from EVERY field on the map. That, and if you're trying to defend you get 100% of your enemy diving at much higher speeds from much higher alts because they're coming down from 12k they had to climb to, in order to attack you in the first place.

The map doesn't really have a place in AH2, IMO. I wish it'd stay out of the rotation, nostalgia aside.

Large Maps

What is the Story with Large Maps. There were several that werent that large, But it just seems like we have 4 maps in the rotation. MINDNAO I think the name was. Can we get that one. Something different, but the Larger maps would be sweet.
Forgot who said this while trying to take a base, but the quote goes like this. "I cant help you with ack, Im not in attack mode" This is with only 2 ack up in the town while troops were there, waiting. The rest of the town was down.

I don't see what the rub is.  I always grab more altitude than that anyway, regardless of what map it is.  I've always hated the fuel burn multiple, but have accepted it as the way it is.  Take 100% fuel and some drops, no problems.  And, Krusty, why do you take off from the base that's getting attacked?  Take off from the next one back from the front.  Then you'll have time to climb up to where the "alt monkeys" are before getting engaged.

Have to admit, I agree with Krusty on this one.  I would rather shove a red hot poker in my eye than play that map.

However, kudos to those who take the time to develop and try new maps.  That is more than I can say I have done.  I tried it a few times, but could not seem to get it worked out on my system.

So, while I do not personally like the map, a big salute to whoever took the time to at least try it and build it.

I really do hate to tell you this, but with few exceptions that entire map can be navigated at 5-6k. It's your choice to climb over the mountains which are no more than about 9k. :)

I'd be quite a bit happier with just more fuel.  It's a tough map for me, especially in the F4U-1D, because it's tough to use your dive and high speed handling defensively because there's always mountains under you and in your way in every direction, and when you can't outclimb most opponents you literally end up between the hammer and the anvil on every engagement.  I suppose I could avoid becoming engaged down in the "teacups", but that's where everything except a bomber or two usually is.

I'd still find it to be a tough map, but I'd be happier if I just had more that about 15 minutes of combat time which would let me compensate for the limitations of a poorly turning, poorly climbing aircraft with relatively short legs.
