WWI: The Blue Max -- no question here: the planes, the fighting, and Ursula Andress scantily clad.  A big thumbs up.

Zeppelin -- giant flying gasbag takes german super-secret mission (and british double agent) to Scotland and (most of the way) back.  Much cooler giant flying gasbag here than you will ever see on ch 200.

WWII: 12 O'Clock High.  -- the movie that makes me take up B-17s to Bishland.  Note to HT: if you like this movie, how about giving us B-17 drivers some decent strats to bomb?

Flying Tigers: -- hey, Its JOHN WAYNE and P40s.  Particularly like the suicide airliner/bomber ending with all the cans of nitroglycerine.

Air Force: another good B-17 movie.  Particularly like the part where they add a "field mod" tailgun to a early model B-17.

Korea:  Bridges of Toko-Ri - OK if you like William Holden.

Viet Nam:  Flight of the Intruder -- where else can you see A-6s and have a black-italian mafia-connected squadron leader?

Eagle, you've got some good ones in there.

How about, not my fav, but a pretty good movie, the one with Jimmy Stuart, June Allison, and Karl Malden?  Was it "Strategic Air Command?"

hap

p.s.  either 12:00 or the one with John Wayne as best.  Wing and a Prayer ok too, but not in the same league, but some great scenes esp the one of the flight deck with the battle on the loud speakers.  Pearl Harbor good too.

Heh, heh.
It reminded me of the time I was strafin' A23 in a F4U-1D in the Orange Areana when I got 12 check 6 calls....VonBraun, check your six!!, check your six...

Been trying to get the DVD but no luck so far.

Netflix says it will have it when it's released onto DVD, but doesn't know how long that will take.

Here are my favorites:

Midway
The Great Waldo Pepper (an awesome movie for anyone who dreamed of being a fighter pilot and felt like he was born in the wrong age)
The Blue Max

And one no one yet has mentioned:

Porco Rosso

I just added several of the recommendations from other folks to my Netflix list.  Thanks, guys!

I haven't seen a bad aviation movie, except for any of the Iron Eagle series.

Best civilian aviation flick is Fandango! Funniest aerial scenes on film! Period.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.

Ok, I'll be the 3rd vote for Fighter Squadron.

Anybody see "Task Force"  Gary Cooper and Walter Brennan?
