Tora! Tora! Tora!

I agree with Gloves. Airplane! has to be an honorable mention. Saw it in the theater when I was a kid (probly too young at that) and it had me in stitches.

i'm in agreement there, it's a historic fact, no need to go PC on history, pretty stupid if you ask me, although i do understand that some people would be offended...

Memphis Belle... 50% because of the movie and 50% because of the music.

(1) 12:00 High - they don't make 'em like they used to :).

(2) The Right Stuff

(3) Memphis Belle

(4) Always - story was ok, the flying sequences and special effects were outstanding

(5) Battle of Britain - great aerial cinematography before the days of CGI

(6) By Dawn's Early Light - not a well known HBO movie about a B-52 crew

(7) NOVA: Battle of the X-Planes - NOVA documentary on the "LocMart" and Boeing competition for the JSF - I know, not a movie but very well done

(8) 633 Squadron - yeah, a little cheesy but still a classic in my book

(9) Bridges at Toko-Ri

(10) Apollo 13 - not quite an aviation movie and is higher up on my list of all time fave movies but Jim Lovell's true story about his impossible carrier night landing when everything went SNAFU always get's me

Honorables - I lump films like Top Gun, Air Force One, Iron Eagle (no 1), Behind Enemy Lines into the same category

Nice list I found Googling aviation films.

Dr. Strangelove? :lol  I guess it did have a significant airplane theme in it... :)  I like Kubrick's films.

I'd be interested in tracking down some of these movies produced before and during WWII
