Setting the views. Up and down?
« Reply #15 on: February 08, 2007, 06:00:00 AM »
I have an X52 as well, here is the setup I'm currently using:

Joystick
A: Range Vox
B: Default look forward view
C: View Pan (I push this, then use my 8-way to look around, view stays where I point it. Which is why I have B mapped to default)
Thumb Fire: Fire Secondary
Trigger: (1) Fire Primary (2) Fire all
Pinkie: Channel Vox
High Hat: Up-WEP, L&R-zoom in/out, down- zoom toggle
Low Hat: horizontial views
T2: Gear down
T4: Tailhook down
T6: Record

Throttle:
D: Look Up (used w/hat on J-stick gives 360 views)
E: Clipboard (I know, probably the wrong use of this easily accessable button)
4 way hat (on the backside): Up/Down - Flaps up/down (gearshift up/down for GV), Left/Right - Head position left/right
Big Analog: rudder trim
Little Analog: Elevator trim
Slider: Alieron trim

I'm relatively satisfied with this setup. I have considered mapping rudder control from the twisty stick to the slider, or possibly the hat switch on the throttle. I don't realy like the twist on the stick too much. I'm considering using the Saitek profiler to redo things a little. I'd like to make the pinkie switch a shift+ so I can add a few other things, like weapon select (backspace), move the head left/right to the high hat so I can put my rudder on the throttle, things like that.

I just cant seem to get around to doing it.

Any comments or suggestions/improvements on my setup?

I also have the look down set to the pinkie switch, but in control mode 2 that I use for the bombers.  Since I really cant see the use of look down in the fighters (all you see is wing), I found that the only time I used it was when I was in outside view with the buffs.  It's nice for spotting the sneaky buggers trying to climb up from under your six . . .
