what kind of memory?

right now i have 1 gig of ram. i would like to go to 2 gigs. whats the best memory to buy?


AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+
2.0 GHz

First off we need to know your memory configuration.. what is in it now?  Is it two 512MB sticks?  or 1GB stick?  How many Ram slots do you have?

Also you're going to find out what motherboard you have and look up the specs to see what kind of memory it can handle.

The IDEAL way to do it is to have all identical sticks at once, but it's not absolutely necessary, nor is it always possible, or affordable.

i have 2 512mb sticks, in 2 slots. not sure what the mother board is. i'll go to the place that built it tomorrow i think.

open the case and look ... almost every mb has a manufaturer  and or part number on it .
