you dont need the cables because they come with the mainboard .

the 1950xtx is a great card but i think the nvidia 8800 is better

the 1950 should be coming down price wise too .

you should be able to save 60 bucks on the Ram too if ya shop around .

were's the heatsink for the cpu ??

also 120mm case fans make for alot quieter pc .(im not shue what that case has)

the cables are for the DVD drives, they are the round cables verses the ribbon cables.......

the Case has (2) 250 mm fans ( wish I could get the shared wishlist to work dang it )

I want to be able to MAX out every setting in AH and still get my topped out frame rate on ym UltraSharp DELL LCD monitor

the Ext WD 250Gig hard drive, is for back-up of the 250 gig SATA drive ( which will be ran in some type of RAID , I usually use RAID 1 )

the CPU processor is a RETAIL version, all retail versions come with Heatsink & Fan.....

I am partial to ASUS products and to COrsair RAM....and HItachi HD's

I have lost  a Maxtor , 2 or 3 WD's ( edit: err meant Seagate not WD ) before, never had trouble with Hitachi at all...

thx fer ya post Roscorro,  now I been trying to search for difference in GDDR3 & GDDR4  on Video Ram.......  anyone got a good link to review?

ah rgr that TC ...

and yeas I was talking about the Corsair ram ...i paid 239 for mine for my 64 bit pc . but that was a couple of months ago on sale.

the ddr4 ram is alot better and faster   you wont be disapointed in that card
(I have one)   but the bench test reviews are better for the 8800 though .

I bought my last Intel/pentium chip (pc ) back when I had to replace my Cyrix(AMD P166+ )  I bought a Pentium Pro P200 setup, it was 1/2 as fast as the P166+ and was a POS...from that point on, I never will by an INTEL chip again!!!

some love  AMD , some love Intel..........I do have a core duo PEntium laptop( I did not buy this, my employer provided it, and I fought hard to get an AMD chip), it is slow and sux as well.........compared to my AMD xp2800+ I am using now which is like 3 or 4 yrs old or so( whels old PC btw ) and the  coreduo laptop reading on paper should blow my amd2800 away if you go by certian performance test people compare with.......

The 8800 GTS is faster and cheaper than that 1950XTX.

FWIW ...... I would also say go with Intel  :huh I love my Conroe.  Even my pent D805 was world's faster than my AMD stuff.  Of course to each his own.

I like the Ram.  I have the same in my machine.  I also like the Antek PS.  I have a Tru power 550 and its been great.

Good luck with your build TC.

Just for some perspective, my rig.....

Thermaltake Armor
Asus P5n32 SLI SE delxue  (I should have bought a different board)
E6600 Core 2 Conroe 2.4 Ghz
2x 1 Gig Corsair XMS DDR2800
W.D. Raptor 150 gig 10k drive
Evga Superclocked 7900 GT
Antek Tru power 500

I run AH at 1440x900 on a Samsung 19" widescreen LCD.  I run at 1024 textures with high res pack.  Frames are always pinned at 75 which is the refresh rate.  With vsync off its in the hundreds.

the 8800 GTS types I just viewed are showing the following compared to the X1950XTX types

8800GTS - core clock: 500 to 580  memoryclock: 1600  to 1800   Memory Interface: 320-bit   and is 640 meg DDR3

X1950XTX - core clock: 650  memoryclock: 2000   Memory Interface: 256-bit   and is 512 meg DDR4

someone have a link to show comparison of these in performance test?

yep love Corsair memory and antek power supplys, last 3 power supplys I have gotten have been 500 watt and 550 watt  TP anteks, no problems at all, and the fan in them help keep inside of pc case cooler to boot...... I have tried some patriot mem sticks though and they seem to work pretty well also...

I am still undecided, have been ATI card user for long time,  and I would like to get out with quality products at cheapest price and best customer support/warranty, newegg is just easy to make a list all in one place.........

Here ya go TC.  You will notice that the 1950xtx is actually faster in some benchmarks than the 8800 when settings are low.  Once the settings get turned up however the 8800's leave everything else in the dust.

http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics.html

If you really want to go with ATI than I would recommend the X1950XT.  Its around $250 and its better than almost all the nvidia cards save for the 8800's.  Read this.....

Isn't the x1950 a DX9 card? I mean that it doesn't have independent chips that can be used for either shaders or vertexes or lighting or anything, it's a standard card with a traditional GPU and memory, right?

Clock speeds don't mean anything comparing ATI to nvidia cards, especially when they're two totally different generations of cards.  The ati 19xx cards are a generation behind the nvidia 8800 cards so if you're going to spend that much money on a vid card, you probably ought to get the nvidia 8800.  That will of course all change in about 2-3 months when the next gen ATI cards hit the street, but even then they'll be "merely" the same generation as the nvidia cards (DX 10) so the 8800s will still come out very good on the price/performance once you start looking at cards that cost more than $400.

As for the cpu, I'd personally go for that E6600 core 2 duo right now instead of AMD.  Again, that will change in a few months and AMD is talking about a massive speedup in their next gen cpus, but they're not even in the hands of reviewers yet so right now the core 2 duo is the chip to get.

For a top end system build right now, I don't think you can beat a core 2 duo and 8800 for performance per dollar.  You can throw an additional thousand bucks into a top end AMD cpu and expensive ATI vid card, and you still won't get the performance you'll get from intel and nvidia.  It could all change in a few months but you're buying now, not 6 months from now.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

The 8800 may be next-gen but the drivers haven't caught up with it yet. Expect problems with linux/vista and slight irritation with xp. 2D desktop still worse in quality compared to Ati.

About the harddrives: Hitachi bought the IBM hd facility. That means that the infamous IBM death.. er.. deskstar line runs now in Hitachi brand. I wouldn't touch them with a 10-foot pole.

I've used several WD extensively now for years and they've been trouble free. The one Maxtor that I had in between died after 1.5 years use. :huh
