Sound Making Help
« on: February 11, 2007, 02:43:11 PM »
I had a MG42 sound from the movie Saving Private Ryan. I got a clip of the MG42 and saved the file with these properties.

Bit Rate: 352kbps
Audio sample size: 16 bit
Channels: 1 (mono)
Audio sample rate: 22kHz
Audio format: PCM

I play the sound on winap and in Aceshigh and it works. My question is how do I get rid of the pause when it repeats? Its does this bang, bang, bang, bang, bang(quick pause)bang,bang,bang........ I tried making the sound lenght smaller from 3 seconds to .25 sec and its just goes bang(quick pause)bang(quick pause)bang....

Please someone help me. I'm so close to getting it done.

EDIT: I was also using windows sound recorder.

man around 30 views and no one has replied. I've tried everything I can think of and I can't get rid of the pause between the repeat. I even posted this in General discussion and didn't get a single reply. I guess no one loves me. Gosh I hate Valentines.

Well if you have a sound clip of multiple bullets fired (like a burst) then AH will try to play that entire clip every time a single bullet is fired. AH tries to play a sound for every round, I think.

If you're getting a burst, a pause, and a burst, it's probably that you've got dead air in the wav file.

The wav file probably has a gap after the burst, and AH is playing that pause before it re-starts the sound file.

Try trimming the tail end of the clip, take out any pauses, and/or (just my opinion) try to get it down to a single bullet if you can, so that when you're firing away it doesn't sound like there's 2 dozen guns all firing at the same time instead of 2.*

* = I have heard some that didn't run into any problems on steady-fire loop sounds, but they didn't sound right in short bursts.

Tried to shorten the sound files and nothing. I even tried to make it one pop sound but it didn't sound right and it still had a pause. Maybe I could send the sound file to someone?

rgr that. They work fine in the game, its just that at the end of the sound file when it repeats it has a quick pause. So it goes BANG, BANG, BANG (Pause) BANG, BANG, BANG (Pause). I would just like it to keep going BANG without any pause.

Let me try some configurations of my own & see if i can re-create on my system what is going on with yours.

Hi VooWho, I was desperately searching for exactly this soundfile. I have some soundediting-software installed, I'll drop you a line via PM in case you still want to send it.
I'd need the entire file though. If you want I send a loop-file back to you.

Best regards,
Matt
