Hey Guys -
My finance's father (now deceased) was in WWII, but he NEVER spoke about it to anyone so she knows very little about what he did. He told her once that he was a cook, and another time that he guarded German POW's, but did say one time that he saw such terrible stuff that he wouldn't/couldn't talk about it.
This past weekend, she was helping her mom with her will and found in the safety deposit box, a bunch of her fathers military records. Turns out he was a medic and was in the Battle of the Rhine. He was qualified as expert with a rifle and pistol, and apparently won a bunch of medals. I didn't see the documents so I don't know what was all in there.
I tried doing a search, but I must not be using the correct keywords. A while ago, there was a topic about a place you could go to get a persons military records/medals that were awarded during WWII. Can anyone help me find this site?
Thanks!
