Hello all,

It's been a long time since I've done anythin related to Aces High... but I like WWII aircraft too much to stay completely away.
I've dug up one of the skins I was working on, and I'm trying to gauge interest in the completion of it.
What do you all think? Should I finish it?

heya rogerdee,

I don't believe this is already in game. You may be remembering my original. I was originally doing it as a P-51D in a blue scheme, but I was corrected and shown that the blue scheme was not historical, but a mistake.

i just figured out why i remember it .i started doing this one too before all the slots wre taken i just found the file on my hard drive.

be nice if htc had different skins for the different arenas then every one can have what they want. good luck with doing it

Personally, I say have the greenhouse-canopied P-51B and the Malcom hood as the P-51C, then we could have 30 skins instead of 15.

Do the same with the P-51D/K, do a slight remodel on the bubble canopy and give it un-booted blades on the prop and call it a K.

Both "remodels" would have the same FM as their counterpart, easy way to double the amount of skins without having to speed up the replacement rotation.

It's not that good an idea, really. It's the exact same plane. You're really just increasing the skins limit from 15 to 30. The reason it's 15 is because each skin adds a lot of room that needs to be eaten up by memory. Limiting it to 15 might seem like it's harsh but I can totally understand why. I'm looking forward to Dog of War but I don't think we'll see it for a while because we're at 15 already.

It hurts us all but I think we just have to live with it and hope HTC will phase out some of the "lesser" of the already-good-quality skins we have.

This is getting dangerously close to thread stealing but..

With your throught process the 190-A5/A8 109-G2/G6/G14 should all be limited to 7.5 each for the 190s and 5 each for the 109s.

Also, that is "Man of War".. you duffus!

Oh and on the skin, check the size of the blue stripes on the yellow and the angle on the rudder trim tabs! Looking forward to more progress on the skin.

No, I meant Treize was saying add the P51C and the P51K, and just have them be exactly 100% identical to B and D so that we get 15 more skins per plane.

That's what I meant about "upping it to 30".

Man o War, Dog of War... I plead the whatever-amendment-protects-me-from-my-own-stupidity

EDIT: Also going back to the skin: I gotta ask: How do you decide which shade of yellow to choose? I did some 109s with yellow parts, and they just never really looked right. Something with the yellow bleeds out when you view it in-game (check out my JG3 skin for the 109E4 to see what I mean)

Actually... basically I use a slightly golden tinged Yellow when I want yellow. Very slight though. Usually the "effects" I use on my aircraft help make the yellow tone down a bit.

I find the best way to keep from bleeding the yellow is to overpaint it with a slight layer of pink over the yellow, I guess thats similar to the orange tint.
