Advice plz.

more nit picking, (and remember this is my first skin, so let me have all ya got so i can learn to do this right).

i havent added any major weathering cracks/chips because all the pictures i have of this plane are the side view, and i can see no scaring, (and i also like clean planes)

I would add some minor wear and tear. Maybe just around important access panels and such.

Okay, from the other thread I think somebody said there were no underwing roundels on the black hurr2c. Kev367th said "No lower roundels on this one." So I'd take those off. Leave the others, just remove lower ones.

Can you locate what part of the bitmap is being used for those white gun boots? Is there a way to make those black as well?

Also concerning the guns, there's the color photo of the real plane in flight, and the barrels are all black, not orange and then black. I don't remember if you can change this or if it's hard-coded. I'd suggest making the orange shrouds black. Maybe a light grey if they were supposed to be rubber or cloth shrouds (I don't know).

The 4 staggered holes on the underside of the wings are shell ejection chutes for the .303 guns. I think you'd only have 2 per wing with the 2x20mm armament setup. Check the default hurr2c, see what it has (I don't fly it enough to remember).

One last request: Play with the cloud layer. Try to make it less noticable. To me it's okay as-is, but I think maybe it could be better. Just a request, not a suggestion. Maybe play around with blending or opacity, and if you don't find anything else you like, leave it as-is.

EDIT: P.S. check the layer ordering. Make sure the "ribs" on the tail are underneath the other layers with codes. It looks like they're on top of them, dulling them out (hard to read the EB500).

Also EB500 looks to be the same yellow as is on the roundel:

Sorry to confuse things more, but rather than edit again I'll reply.

I said to move the ribs layer underneath. I just realized that won't work. It won't be visible on the codes then. However, perhaps changing the blending and reducing opacity will help keep the highlights of the ribs visible, but not obscure the codes as much.

Thx for help. fixing these things first time i get the chance tomorrow.

The port side boots are unable to be painted any color. all hurricane mk2 skins are that way.

I thought it looked like the Coding was the same color as the encinge hub.
ill look for more pictures, and experiment to see which looks better.

You sure it's not hidden on some other bitmap somewhere? For example the internal cockpit frames are also used on the outside of the cockpit when zoomed in (as I found on my skin)

EDIT: Now you've got me wondeing about the coloring as well on the BE500 code. It could be faded red or yellow. My first impression was yellow, but this wasn't based off of any major research.

toadflack  you would be better off doing the rar ribs yourself then using them from the template,no matter what u do with the template they always show up looking too white and if you make them opaque then u lose  the deatail u need

Krusty - The BE500 code is Red not Yellow, he got it right.

The underwing port cannon boots can't be skinned.

Yup - remove the lower wing roundels.

One thing I read - They tended to paint the exhaust stubs in a "red lead" color, try using a recolor brush to get them a reddish color.

hmmm... I've been wanting to get the paint on the hurricane to react to light more like the Spitties that Kev makes. tried changing the materials to that of the spits, and other planes and i see no noticable difference. Is it possible to change this? Maybe just because it hasnt been remodelled yet?

believe ive touched on all of the suggestions from the Artisans here.

ive match the color of the exhaust to the closest color of referance ive got. not a big change though

once again i must express my thanks for all of your guidance, and appologize for asking for so much help, but this is because i want to get this thing right.

I say keep the color tint on the exhausts. It's subtle but it makes a little difference.

All in all I'm liking the way it looks.

One suggestion though: The stripes on the v-stab should be flush with the rudder/stab joint line. You have the same colors left-to-right on both sides, but the colors were ordered front-to-back, so blue would be nearest the rudder and red nearest the leading edge. It'll be mirrored, basically.

I can't think of anything else. I say give it a day or three, don't look at it. Come back and see if anybody's got any more suggestions, and then look at it yourself. You'll always look at it more objectively after letting it sit. Don't rush to submit or you'll increase the chances of screwing something up :)

Supposedly we missed the skin pack deadline, so theoretically no submissions we make now will get into the upcoming skins release (theoretically)

Just put it aside and work on another skin, or look at some other ideas, and don't look at it. Your eyes are "used to it", and are not seeing possible problems. Trust me on this. You need to look away at other things for a while then come back and you'll think "dear lord, why did I do that?".
