For Valentine's Day my GF got me a Viewsonic VX2235wm 22' LCD display. I'm having some trouble figuring out the best settings and such.

The problem I'm having is things getting blurry as they are moved. For example, I was in a field ack last night and noticed when I tried to track an incoming target, everything (trees, buildings, icons, everything) would get blurry. This isnt only happening in game, when I drag a window the contents and window itself become blurry as well. I'm 100% positive there is a setting or something I dont have set right, but I've fiddled around with the Nvidia control panel and am having no luck figuring this out.

I don't recall this happening with my CRT monitor, but I would be willing to lug the dang thing back upstairs and double check (if I have to).

I am using a Nvidia 6800 with 128 mb. Driver version is 6.14.0010.9371, I'm sure that is a bit out dated, so I'm planning on updating it.

I'm currently using a screen resolution of 1680x1050 (recommended by Viewsonic) at 60 hertz. I have tried other resolutions, but all have acted the same. I dont seem to be able to adjust the hertz.

I have both DVI and SVGA (I'm not sure if thats the right term) outs from the card, currently I'm using the older SVGA type. I do have the DVI cable, if using that would make a difference.

That is the nature of most LCD monitors. The blurring is caused by the pixels of the LCD not being able to turn off as fast as a CRT pixels can.

Some LCD displays are better than others, but most make a trade-off between color saturation and pixel cycle times (expressed in "response time"). Generally speaking the lower the response time, the poorer the color saturation. Higher quality LCD displays will manage to have lower response times, and still have good color saturation levels, but they do cost more.

So there is no way around it?

I'd hate to have to take this back, but the blurriness is a big detraction.

Response time is listed as 5 ms, the others seem to be similar or slightly higher. There was one listed at 2 ms, may have to look into it a little more.

I had problems with my Viewsonic that had a 5ms latency, so I traded up for one with 2ms. Not a problem yet.

That uses the same screen as my Sceptre 22" LCD monitor and I don't see any blurring.
In fact at the moment all the 22" widescreen LCDs use the same screen.

Try connecting using a DVI cable.

To change the refresh rate you will need 'coolbits' or something similar.
That way you could drop down to 1024x768 and run it at a higher refresh rate.

Saying that, I run 1680x1050 @ 60Hz without any blurring.
