No it wouldn't. Weight isn't what caused stability issues in the F4U, otherwise the Hellcat would have had an even nastier low-speed stall, as she was somewhat heavier than the F4U. Obviously history was quite the opposite.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

I am talking about the weight of the 1 as compared to the 1-a D C and 4!  What were their weight differences?  Where's widewing?:D

SkyRock and Saxman,

I too still prefer the -1 over the -1A.........

alot of it has to do with  what Widewing posted, when going over top in the vertical, backing off a tad on the throttle helps it get around / reverse quicker.......( talking bout the -1A here )  I guess it has to do with the more power it has.....

will go find that thread and come back and edit/post here.......

edit: Widewings post on F4U's performance awhile back

"When one considers just what they should say to a new pilot who is logging in Aces High, the mind becomes confused in the complex maze of info it is necessary for the new player to know. All of it is important; most of it vital; and all of it just too much for one brain to absorb in 1-2 lessons" TC
