Back from the Western Caribbean

We got back late last night after spending seven days at sea on the Grand Princess. We visited Costa Maya, Roatan Honduras, Belize, and Cozumel after sailing from Galveston.

Here are a few shots:

did you make it to Chitzen Itza?

truly incredible runis to see.

was this your first cruise?

for me personally the whole "deep water" thing of the ocean thing scares the bejeezus out of me, but it is also the coolest thing in the world.

nothing like looking out off the ship at sunrise or sunset and seeing nothing but ocean. it is a beautiful sight, almost surreal. If I could I would get myself one of those 200' yachts, and spend almost all my time at sea, but I need to win $150 million first LOL.

personally I still get amazed at the sheer size of the ships too, something that huge just cruising along. they truly a marvel of mankind.

Didn't make it to Chitzen Itza. I got to see Chacchoben near Majahual, Costa Maya and Altun Ha in Belize.

My first "cruise", but not my first time at sea. I spent ten years in the Navy so I've spent years of my life on the ocean... and a bit of that on a Nimitz class aircraft carrier. Gotta say... the aircraft carrier is faster with a smoother ride, but it's not nearly as quiet as the Grand Princess.

After being "haze gray and underway", I've often wondered if I could actually enjoy a cruise.  I guess you don't have to deal with a 1-MC blaring, and no flight deck right above you.

I've enjoyed the cruises I took. But the ride was much smoother than I was accustomed to as a Coastie. I was used walking on the bulkheads underway.;)

Didn't get the chance. Cozumel would have been a good place for it though. Trips onshore were always a bit hectic. I went with my family (sixteen of us) so it was a bit like herding cats.
