Anything to make a buck
« on: February 19, 2007, 02:42:09 PM »
Ok, last year I had to take my 02 Nissan Quest to the dealer for some warrenty work to replace a CV boot.  I gave them my email address during the registration, so periodically I get notices from them on sales, specials, regular maintenance stuff even though I dont use them for anything.

well you gotta give those car dealers some credit for trying,  and the sad part is most people will fall for it too...

this is just an example of what I normally get, got this today

This winter has wreaked havoc on just about every vehicle out there, including your Quest. The road has probably not been nice to the comfort and drive of it. Also, because the beginning of the year is usually the busiest, you probably haven't had time to bring it in for service. Well, next month brings Spring Break and that makes for the perfect time to bring in your Quest. That is why we'd like to invite you down now to take advantage of our Pothole Service Special!*

Pothole Service Special
Tire Rotation
Tire Alignment
Balance Tires
Check Pressure
ONLY $109.99!!

what a laugh :lol .   Tire rotation, Balance and pressure check I get for free from the tire shop I bought my tires  :lol   and I can get an alignment for $79 or less.    I wonder how many people they suck in with that one...

They should have offered to swap out the muffler bearing too, for free!

I bet they get a lot.  So many folks think the slightest bumps will ruin their cars/trucks.  The things people slow down for baffles me.  I think that most folks have no idea how effective suspensions are.  It kills me to see pick-ups and SUVs slow down to 10mph for a single little bump or pot hole.  They’ve probably never driven on dirt roads, ever.

They "want POTHOLES"?!!!   Come on up here to Michigan.   Worst roads by far in the US.   Last year on I-75, a pot hole swallowed an entire and caused a four car accident.

I bet they are bad, but I bet Alaskan roads are worse.  When my mother moved to Anchorage there was only one paved road in the entire city.  Most of Alaska has bad frost heaves and potholes everywhere in the spring.  I broke a differential on a big pot hole in downtown Anchorage once.  The short summers leave little time to fix everything.  Brand new roads are often shot after only one year.

Mash, you'll get no arguement from me. I used to go to Detroit 4-5 times a year. NOBODY has worse roads than Michigan.

:rofl :rofl   I only laugh because our roads suck.   I empathize with other's in the same boat.   I laugh at folks here with 20-22" wheels.

Not even Louisianna?  I've never been to Michigan, but Louisianna roads are so bad that if you're asleep in the car and cross stateline from Texas to Louisianna, you will know it

Yep, even worse than Louisiana. Michigan has a stupid weight limit law. Trucks can gross 164,000 pounds if they have enough axles.

What I wanna know is
What does tire rotation have to do with potholes?
Death is no easy answer
For those who wish to know
Ask those who have been before you
What fate the future holds
It ain't pretty
