Microsoft .NET framework 2.0...
« on: February 19, 2007, 04:30:50 PM »
I have a business application I need that requires this POS. I've currently got my home PC doing "double duty". I've got some serious latency/spiking issues that I'm 99% sure are directly related to "NET". I cant find any specific process for NET...is this something I can turn off when I play AH? any other options to minimize its effect....or do I need to build out a seperate box for AH again?

Once activated, there is no way to disable it.  It is a layer of software that gets wedged in.  No process associated with it.

ARGHHHH....

I'm getting "EKG" warps similiar to my old driver conflict issues. Is this a symtom of NET?. Guess i'm asking what problems are normally attributable to this thing. I know you hate it, can game be played at reasonable level with it or do I need to build a gaming box back out?

Thanks for quick feed back BTW....

It should have minimal impact on a system for the game, unless the system was right on the edge and this just pushed it over the top.

The long term effects of .NET have yet to be realized.

Humble, check the in-game 'Variance' in the "Net Status".  If it is bouncing around, then something coule be running in background or your computer may be running out oif resources, or both.

Just a thought.

Skuzzy, After reading Humble's post and your responses, and because I have recently started experiencing latency problems, I checked my system and discovered that I have Microsoft.net framework 1.1 and also Microsoft.net framework 2.0 on my computer.  When checking on Microsoft.net framework 2.0 it is indicated that it is rarely used and that it was last used on 1/26/2007.  There is no indication that Microsoft.net framework 1.1 has ever been used.  The 1/26/2007 date for Microsoft.net framework corresponds with some automatic windows updates on that date.  My computer is for home use only and my questions are what is Microsoft.net Framework 1.1 and 2.0? and do I need either if computer is not being used for anything other than gaming, e-mail, and word processing?  Since it appears that Microsoft.net Framework 1.1 came with the computer (a Dell) can I remove Microsoft.net Framework 2.0 without any adverse affect - since it is not being used anyway.  Thank you for your response.   wizer

Skuzzy, this a "rack box"....only one I've ever owned. to be honest it has so much "hidden" stuff that it leaves me baffled at times. I run alot of business related stuff on it. I use FS autostart to trim it down to ~19 process's for AH. I have the same issues either way. I believe it all traces back to the onboard VC and the compaq "idiot proofing" software that doesnt let me really control stuff. There is literally stuff hidden in the config.sys/autoexec.bat that I cant edit....literally locked to all dos commnads I know.

I have a case/550 W PS lying around. literally printing the fry's specials. Think for the $400 or so its worth cobbling a clean build togeather. Yesterday I literally had AH lockup frozen....my "in game" mouse froze but my "real" mouse showed thru. so I could move mouse but no commands worked to return to desktop. Starngest thing I ever saw.

I'm guessing I have a memory conflict tied the the memory control drivers for the ATI conflicting with the Nvidia drivers causing all kinds of errors.....

Judging from USrangers and other similiar conflicts i'd sticky a comment that if you have onboard video you buy a VC that "match's"......even better dont buy a rack box if your going to tweak it. I'd but one of these for my kids going to college or recommend to a non techie friend in a heart beat....but just buy what you need "as is"....do not crack the case:).....
