We finally got a new rock station here in town that was great for its first two months on air. THEN they decided to add Lex & Terry in the morning when I and many thousands of other radio rock heads loved listening to just MUSIC on the drive to the office. What amazes me is that less than 4 years ago Lex & Terry failed in the Birmingham, AL market because they go head -to-head with sports talk in the morning and some other dweeb shows like Rick & Bubba and John Boy & Billy. In our town sports talk dominates the radio in the morning and evening drive times.

Hmmm... seems to me that most artists don't put out more than one album every three to five years.

I remember in the seventies when the norm was one or two albums per year.

I dont see why anyone would be willing to pay for radio

Howard Stern is yesterdays news. I've heard him on Sirius. and he still isnt as good as he was 20 years ago. Not even close.

Music. You can get online.

I just dont see why anyone would pay extra for radio other then to be able to say they have the latest gadget

I dont think you could be more wrong. Howard is better than ever not to mention all the other content you get. Sirius is worth every penny even if it was just music.

Been an XM subscriber since the beginning, seems weird that Sirius is gona be the nmae, when XM stock is worth 2-3 times what Sirius stock is going for.  As long as O&A and Ron & Fez are still on, it's all good.

It doesn't have anything to do with the amount of music they are putting out.  I'm hearing the same music I heard on the radio when I first really started listening.

I thought one of the big things about these "radios" was they were commercial free?

Screw dat

And why would they have advertising for satalite radio. ON satalite radio?

Now way. I remember Howard when he first moved to NY from CD and was on WNBC. Then moved to KRock
when nobody outside of those areas had ever even heard of him let alone anyone like him

He was ground breaking

It was like they said in the movie.
the people that liked him listened cause they wanted to hear what he was gonna say next.

the people that hated him listend...
Cause they wanted to hear what he would say next

Howard ws great back then cause he was doing stuff nobody ever dared do before.

Now there's 1000 howards on the air. His stuff just isnt fresh anymore

Some stuff is pretty funny yea. Like the recent clip I saw when he had something like a 78 year old lady sitting on a sybian.

But the time between the time he is great and only ok is miles wide anymore

I dont know many people that would say different, laser...

I think there is a direct correlation between the concentration of ownership (Telecomm Act of 1996 anyone?) and **** the general public is fed over the airwaves.

Radio stations today are noise.  The NAB claim that since 1996 listeners have much more music/news and overall content from which to choose.  News departments serve multiple local stations in and even outside relevant markets.  Because these departments serve a larger number of stations, it can be said that, overall, less news being produced.  So yeah, we see many new pipelines with loads of content... whoopie-dink, but the same crap merely blares at a higher volume.

The diarhea sprays evenly across the airwaves.  And after the lemmings are all fed from the same toilet, they go on to praise their masters for a wonderful meal.

When my MP3 player dies I cannot go a single day without hearing Girl's Got Rhythm by AC/DC on one of three local rock stations.  That band is ruined for me, I soil myself every time it plays. :(

Ive been a fan since '92 and for me, its the best its ever been. I do see where you are coming from but I love it.

Sirius music is commercial free. The talk channels are not. That said the breaks on the Stern show are very short and few between.

Late sixties people might like the live365 website and searching for Radio Vietnam.

It repeats daily and there are a few commercials but it's pretty good and it's free. You can subscribe and get no commercials but I haven't seen the need.

I don't listen every day but I tune in now and then.
