If that's true then Tempest's acceleration should be almost equal to P-47.

Was the tempest using full power + WEP during the evaluation?  I still can't believe they rate Temp's acceleration with P47s.

It was a big draggy airframe, keep that in mind. It had a huge frontal radiator. It wouldn't just knife through the air, especially with its weight and inertia to overcome.
