Granted they are not Hispano's but at the right range they work IMO much better than 6 .50's.
I just found this out on my own last night. I have a squaddie who flys the LA-5 a lot. Whenever I fly with him in his ride I die with no kills but I had the 20mm's set to D650 as I always do with cannon.
Last night I was thinking maybe they were'nt balistically sound enough for that distance as they seem to drop a lot, and set at 650 in close they were probably rising too much, thus my problem hitting with them, so I pulled them in to 400. The result... 2 kills on my next flight.
I'd still prefer a pack of .50's to these cannon though just for the flatter balistics.
As to whomever posted about the German cannon, I've flown the FW190-A8, TA152H and ME163 a lot and, while you're probaby right, I have compensated in my gunnery in these planes for the drop in the 30mm's so for me I'm just used to them.
