I was wondering if you could kill a pnzr with the rockets on the P47?  If so how?  i've never been able to do it and i have had rockets shot at me many times and never died.  (i was watching a countryman die from the rockets).

I had always heard the American rockets can't kill a tank...only track it......anyone else killed a pnzr with rockets?

Use the Pb1 rockets on the Fw190F8.  They can even kill a tiger with 1 shot.  The other problem with rockets killing tanks is that the tracks can absorb ALOT of damage (per pyro's post on killing tanks), so even if a guy bombs and kills the tank, the guy who put a few rockets into the tank gets the official kill.

The only rocket we have that has a real HEAT (High Explosive Anti Tank) warhead is the Pb1.  The rest are variations of standard high explosive warheads.

My take on it anyway :)

You have to put them on the tank, I think there is a sweet spot.  Someone posted on it a couple of years ago!

If they HIT there's a very good chance they'll kill. Problem is 99% of the time you can't hit with 'em.

Also a reason we should have the 60lb rockets that the Mossie and Tiffy used, instead of the piffly 'generic' ones they have now.
Maybe when they eventually get re-modelled?

I don't know about allied rockets but Zorstorer is correct about the Pb1 rockets carried by the FW190 F8.  When attacking with these, try to use as shallow an angle of attack as possible, even flat horizontal flight if possible.  These rockets drop off mush quicker than the allied ones, and you want to be right up close and personal when you let them fly.  Use . salvo 2 for your drop rate.  One or two hits is all you need to take out any vehicle in the game.

I've knocked out turrets with rockets, and I know the rox on the il2 and 190 can kill a tank, but I've only had success coming in at a relatively steep angle, and I would guess that my accuracy vs vehicles is about... oh, I'd say .01%.

Hubs,

Try the shallow angle attack I mentioned.  I'm no ground attack expert for sure, but I have had beter success when letting my rockets go parrallel to the ground.  When I have managed a hit from a steep angle, I usually get a turret destroyed at best.

I killed a tiger once with a 4 rocket salvo from a P-38. If I remember right I was shootin straight down  on it.

Not to say you didn't deserve the kill but the Tiger may have taken previous hit damage from others bombing him? I know at best my Tiger has only been "tracked" by rockets (When not previously hit from any other ord) . That's not to say it can't be done, but as much time as I spend in a tiger I have yet to be killed with rockets unless I had taken a lot of damage (and who can really gage how much damage you take) from close bombing.

Tigers most certainly can be killed with rockets alone.  Vanscrew bombed my Tiger the the other day, and I rocketed his on the next sortie.  No previous hits before my rockets sent him to the tower.  Have been killed in my tiger as well by enemy F8 rockets with no prior hits or damage.

It's actually been my experiance that Tigers die easier than Panzers with the rockets from an F8.  Can't explain this, just been my experience.

Didn't say that it "couldn't" be done.
