My wife is there on a rotation this month.  According to her, although some of the main hospital is in decent shape, almost all of the non public areas are a total dump with holes in walls and ceilings mold etc... just like what they are saying about the quarters.

Just what I heard too -- inpatient care is top notch, but outpatient care - is much below any reasonable standard.

Absolutely a shameful way to treat those who have sacrificed so much in service of our nation.   Note too, that nothing was happening to address this until the Washington Post broke the story, and now its getting alot of attention.

Reminds me of the importance of a free press in a democracy.

Lots of things set people off on this board - I'm real curious why people are so quiet about this.    Certainly it's an outrage.

Should I draw the conclusion that neocon/rightwingers really aren't all that upset about this shabby treatment of injured vets?    Or embarrassed because the story was broke by the liberal Washington Post and can't possibly share the same sentiment as a leftwing rag?

Not as disgusting as the length of time this situation has been going on.

Too bad that it took some investigative reporting to bring it to light, left to internal inspection, these problems would have had a hard time becomming public knowledge.


IMO, it's time to purge the military to get rid of the obvious graft and corruption and the old boy network that has been in place for decades.

I think the lack of outrage on this board about the conditions at Walter Reed outpatient is disgusting.   That's the silence I'm referring to.
