murder vs killing whats the difference

murder does not mean being against the law.    The law does not determine what is murder except in strict legal terms.   Morally... only the person doing the killing knows if it is murder or not.

I disagree laz.

If a soldier in the US armed forces is told to terminate a target and does so.
Was that killing Murder?

Is a convicted felon facing the electric chair, lethal injection, etc being killed or murdered?

My point is that society & civilization decides what killing is "lawful". And yes its wrapped in strict legal terms for a reason. To keep just anyone who wants someone else dead from going out and killing them.

Someone who on their own goes out and kills another person with or without just cause. THATS murder most foul. Not because the person died, not because he had cause or not. But because the killer did it on their own, without the sanction of society, or under society's orders.

All murders are killings, but not all killings are murders.

Hope that clears it up.

In nawlins they also say "misdemeanor murder." Thats when you kill someone and the DA doesn't charge you in 60 days so you get out.

I disagree.  Many here repeatedly murder the Queen's English (repeat offenders? mass murderers?)  but no killing involved.

Murder requires malice and aforethought, which is absent with troops following "legal" orders.. like maintaining a roadblock / check point.

An 18 year old Lcpl facing an oncoming vehicle doesn't have a crystal ball to tell him if its an innocent "run from war" family, or some jihadist...
