7600GT users get 8466

After a year of problems trying to run texures greater than 256 with dual 7600GTs in SLI mode, wallaaaa..!!!

Was running 8421 that came with the card.  9xxx drivers were worthless.

guru3d.com has the driver.  You will not find it on the Nvidia site.

8421 runs ok at low texure setting, but chokes at high settings.

8466 seems to kick butt at all settings!!!

Asus AN8 SLI deluxe
Dual 7600GTs in SLI mode
2 G Ram
24 inch Acer LCD @ 1200x 980
All video settings maxed out, ie object detail, ground detail, etc
Texture 512k

I really can not see the difference between 1024 and 512 textures as far as being worth it.   (When I shoot a flap off a P-38, I don't really care about it's color).  Will try 1024 textures tommorrow though for the hell of it.

My frame rate is limited by the LCD refresh rate of 60mhrs.  So I get 60-59 under all conditions, fire, tracers, explosions, low altitude, etc.  They have no effect on the frame rate.

I would also reccomend 2 Gigs of Ram.  This game is a reall Ram hog!  With 1Gig the game would report  < 500meg usage.  With 2 Gigs it reports >600 megs usage and that does not include texture usage @ 100megs for 512 textures.  Actually one of the forums claims that 1024 textures require 1 Gig of ram alone!!

I am now happy.:)

Probably upwards of 1.6GB now, every skin pack release adds more and more to it.

Heh, Krusty,

Great info.

Heck, I just figured out DDR (dual channel mode),

You need two memory moduals! (Duh!)

These are not the "old DOS Days of yesteryear"..Snort!!!

You could really help us AH guys if you could put out a weekly Blurb about AH settings.  Like what settings to enable/disable on your video card, etc.

Most of us have no idea whether to use anti-anything or not. Mip filtering,  etc ???  Is it good or bad for AH, etc ?

For the most part just leave it on "default" and if you want to, play around with anti-aliasing. Note that FSAA will eat up compute cycles and slow your card down. Only use it if your card is operating smoothly enough to take a small hit.

Other than that the only thing you want to worry about is VSYNC. Set it to ON.

The rest you can leave alone.

There is one slider, "image quality" or whatever it's called. It slides from "best performance" to "best quality". You can play around with that also.

The other settings are mostly in-game
