Ok so I'm scanning the tube and I stop briefly at CNN and at the end of a report the guy says "of the $110 Billion in relief approved for hurricane Katrine about half has allready been spent"
Now I understand it allways costs the govt more to do something than a private firm but still.
We've spen 65 BILLION and from what I hear there's not much improvment.
How many houses can you build for a Billion dollars.
You could build 10K $100000 priced homes. for a Billion. TEN THOUSAND HOMES! and that's brand new from scratch type homes.
I know homes sell for alot more than that now adays but if you got a builder to do it on contract and they knew they were making X profit where's the hitch? and that's just 1 of 110 Billion alotted.
Not to mention all that construction has to be a kick start for the local economy. It requires alot of workers. Those workers need food and places to stay and so on.
There really needs to be some more oversight in this that all this money isn't being pissed into the gulf.
Lastly I havn't calculated nore know if some of that cost is being put into rebuilding the levies.
