Just logged off. Kinda POed. Took up a 262 and had a great time scattering the bad guys, even got a kill on a 190. Fuel got low so I RTB to a field 25miles behind the front. Come in for a nice long slow approach. Just about to the runway and BAM A STINKIN TREE IS RIGHT THERE AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY!!!! Really sucks losing 148 perkies because of a tree I couldn't see untill I was right on top of it. I wish the trees werent at the end of the runways EVER!!!     :furious

Why? There are trees/obstructions at ends of runways in the real world. In my flying days there was this one at 06C....

45 ft. trees, 1155 ft. from runway, 21:1 slope to clear
76 ft. tank, lighted, 3054 ft. from runway, 570 ft. left of centerline, 37:1 slope to clear

And that was AFTER they improved the airport and tore down some trees that were much closer to the runway.

And my other favorites from KPWK where I learned to fly....

61 ft. tree, 733 ft. from runway, 419 ft. left of centerline, 8:1 slope to clear
13 ft. road, 200 ft. from runway, 325 ft. left of centerline
46 ft. tree, 666 ft. from runway, 74 ft. right of centerline, 10:1 slope to clear
70 ft. trees, 323 ft. from runway, 12 ft. right of centerline, 1:1 slope to clear
69 ft. tree, 1208 ft. from runway, 93 ft. left of centerline, 14:1 slope to clear

Most of the people you meet in life are like slinkies. Pretty much useless, but still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

all,

same thing happens to me all the time a dam tree right at the end of the runway. it's hard enough landing with trees right their let alone trying to get bombers up with trees their.
Also having MT.'s right at the end of runways...who would build a runway right by a dam HT.

It apears your aproching the runway to low. If you worried about trees just try to land a little closer to the middle of the runway, and come in from a nice high decent.

Perhaps you need to consider that from this point forward there will always be trees at the very end o f the runway. at every runway.

I've had trees above me.   Hearing the "spontaneous combustion" of the con, leaves a warm, fuzzy feeling.

This happened to me with a wing-tipped 262. had the landing approach nicely---- boom. haha

There is usually at least one approach to the field that does not have a tree in a direct line of flight, it wise to circle the field low and slow and survey it for the best approach.

This is only really worth it in the 262 and maybe even the Arado, but it does pay off.

Especially when you're 25 miles behind the front and in no danger.

Usually the E-W runways do not have trees. Simply because the tiles are designed into 4 halves, the E-W runways are in the middle of that 4 halves transition and usually don't have any trees infront of the runways.
