p-40
« on: March 03, 2007, 04:01:40 PM »
the p-40 was the plane that made me want to play AH in the first place, but i quickly found out to start out with other planes like the 51 and the spits.

ive found the p-40 can out turn the spit by a lot in any turning fight. however it has a high stall rate, but this also is a quite a helper when throwing your plane to off-shoot anyone on your tail.

anyone wish to give me some more info or tips on using the p40? or any cool stuff about the p-40 we might not know?:aok

the actual production versions where much like 109's in the fact that the rudder did not have trim tabs, so ever greater preasure was needed on the rudder pedals as speed increased.

also, the controls where fabric coverd, so control response was retarded by the inate flexibility in the control system.

all and all a inferior plane from its inception, but we had nothin better at the time...I like the p40 if for no other reason than it has those shark teeth on the nose, letting em all know you aint skeeered to tangle.

you know what a p400 is?
a p40 with a zero on its butt.......
