« on: July 01, 2000, 09:58:00 AM »
I just installed win 2000 and everuthing else is just fine, but my joystick and rudder pedals don't work in AH

actually in AH's setup screen's joystick selection window I can see bought, but after calibration AH don't seem to get any ínput from them.

windows control panel found and calibrated bought just fine.

Stick is CH's force fx and pedals are ch pro pedals USB

has anyone any ideas how to get them to work?

I have the same problem with my Saitek Cyborg 3d USB.

It seems that AH just can't cope with USB on W2000.

I've every confidence that HTC will solve the problem - after all AH now runs on W2000 where it didn't before. I just want it solved *now*. <g>

I have posted plenty more elsewhere so I'm not going to bore by repeating myself.

Pardon my ignorance, but what version of DirectX does Win2K use?  Is DX 7.0a available for Wind2K?  If so and you don't have it, that is one of the problems that 7.0a fixes.

Win2k has DX7.0, and no, 7.0a isn't available for Win2k, for here is what Microsoft says:

DirectX 7.0a is an update to DirectX 7.0, providing improved force feedback performance and the best compatibility with today's input devices. Windows 2000 users do not need the changes in DirectX 7.0a, as they are specific to input device support on Windows 95 and Windows 98.

But as qts said in another Win2k thread, we can take what MS says with a grain of salt.

My MS SideWinder 3D Pro doesn't even work under Win2k because MS still hasn't ported the SW software to Win2k...

I don't know if we can simply download 7.0a and install it over Win2k. I think qts tried but it didn't work.

SW Pro doesn't work?  You mean Sidewinder Precision Pro or FF?  I'm using a SideWinder 3d Pro and it works fine in Win2k.  No SW software needed, drivers are included in OS.

EDIT:  I should say it works mostly fine in AH... occasionally the throttle forgets where it was set but then goes back to the right place a couple secs later.

No, I mean SW 3D Pro. It doesn't work because I have a Diamond MonsterSound MX300 card, and that's a known issue with the (gameport) SW 3D Pro. In order for that stick to work under Win9x, I have to install the SideWinder 3.02 software, even if I don't use it to program the stick. (Or else Windows sees the stick as "not connected".)

Since the SW software wasn't ported to Win2k, I can't use my 3D Pro under Win2k.

Anyway, I'm tired of gameport problems, I'm expecting a full USB setup by courier anytime now. Already got my CH Pro Pedals. I'll have to wait for Saitek Win2k software, but it's supposed to be released during the summer.

I'm looking forward to AH and all my gear working under Win2k, for that day I will eagerly get rid of Win98SE.

That sucks that it doesn't work for you.  FWIW, I have the gameport (not USB) SW 3d Pro (part #63545), and it works in Windows 2000 5.00.2195 (later version than yours?).  I use it on a Guillemot Maxi Sound Fortissimo sound card gameport (with Win 2000 native drivers).  Windows 2000 recognized my stick in the game controller control panel after clicking 'add', then choosing 'Microsoft Sidewinder (Auto-Detect)'.  The SW software it seems is not needed.

I have my Aces High and DVD's working in Win2k, so Win98 is gone, gone, gone from my hard drive.

To add my tuppence-ha'penny, I too tried DX8 beta on W2k and it had no effect on AH at all.
