Russian, to tell you the truth it is easy to outpace a Romak or Dragunov with a conventional bolt-action rifle. 600m is as far as my range goes and as far as I've fired and that's probably also the outer limit of my ability to hit a target that size reliably. I fire 7N1 surplus ammo made in 1997 currently. If I fire run of the mill surplus ammo thru it, the accuracy suffers alot and it begins to behave more like what it really is: a big, fat AK.
There are some ergonomic problems with it such as the scope being mounted high over the action and slightly offset to the left. If I zero the scope for a 100m target and fire at say a 1000m meter target without compensating for the offset, my round could strike up to 10 inches to the left of the chevron. Throw some wind into the equation and it gets more confusing.
Within the rifle's intended role as a designated marksman weapon, it does just fine but I wouldn't want to compete with it against a guy firing a well tuned bolt action rifle. Scoring rapid, successive hit between 250m and 400m is actually pretty easy. At 600m with reasonably cooperative wind I can hit the targets about 4 out of 5 shots from a sandbagged bench, but I can't pick which part of the target I want the shot to go to. A personal rule of thumb with this piece is to keep my target zone within the confines of the aiming chevron. As you can see from the pic, at 600 the aiming chevron is hanging slightly past the edges of the silhouette.
